Such a great actor, director and writer...

But as a person he seems like a total ass! I respect him as a great true visionary and nothing more.

reply

Wooden actor, mediocre director and what has he written?

reply

"Look at me, being all contrarian for the sake of it!"

reply

Do you know any of his films focus on stories related to minorities ? Can you name one film he directed that has minority actors (e.g., African American, LGBT, Native Indian, hispanic, etc) as the lead ? If yes, please let me know.

reply

It’s to his credit that he ignores your shitty, racist woke demands.

The guy is primarily a movie star who typically casts himself as the lead, so of course the lead will be white 🤦🏻‍♂️ Nevertheless he has a great working relationship with Morgan Freeman who he often casts as his buddy, as well as creating opportunities for actors and crew of all backgrounds.

So quit whining ya dumb woke bitch.

reply

Flags of Our Fathers - Native Canadian Adam Beach was one of the stars of the ensemble cast, playing Native American Ira Hayes.

Letters from Iwo Jima. Everyone was Japanese.

Where does that leave that dumb SJW from 7 years ago?

reply

There are many other examples:

Cry Macho -- Latinos
The Mule -- Latinos
Grand Torino -- Vietnamese and other inner city minorities
Unforgiven -- a black partner and his AmerIndian wife
Heartbreak Ridge -- a comedic black Marine
The Outlaw Josey Wales -- the Indian chief (Will Sampson)
Magnum Force and the other Dirty Harry flicks -- various black characters and other minorities

There are more, but this is enough.

reply

Gran Torino featured a Hmong cast, not Vietnamese. It was a plot point that was explicitly explained during the film.

Regardless, Eastwood is a dinosaur with shitty politics.

reply

Maybe Eastwood is not a dinosaur with shitty politics, but you're just a non-viable mutation with shitty politics.

reply

Go find an empty chair to spew your drivel to.

reply

Why waste time finding an empty chair? I get the same effect from communicating with you.

reply

I haven't seen the movie in like fifteen years, but looked it up. They were from Laos, which borders Vietnam, and makes them Laotians. The Hmong people inhabit Southwest China and the countries of Southeast Asia, which of course includes Laos and Vietnam.

So, yeah, they weren't technically Vietnamese, but I was close.

reply

Bottom line is they were Hmong not Vietnamese. As far as their nationality, I imagine they're American or aspiring Americans. Them being from Laos is irrelevant.

reply

Yet they emigrated from Laos, which makes them Laotians who were now Americans, i.e. Laotian-Americans, similar to Mexican-Americans and so forth. Again, Laos borders Vietnam and they share the same part of the globe -- eastern Southeast Asia -- similar to Nevada, Arizona & New Mexico being the Southwest USA.

reply

All those characters just to avoid acknowledging you were mistaken. Just another typical day on the internet.

My answer contains spoilers !

Bird (1988): Forrest Whitaker's character is Charlie Parker.

Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil (1997): Kevin Spacey's character is Jim Williams who is gay.

Flags Of Our Fathers (2006): Adams Beach's character is Ira Hayes, who was a Native American. This character is one of the three main characters.

Letters From Iwo Jima (2006): All the main characters are Japanese.

Gran Torino (2008): Many actors are Hmong.

Invictus (2009): Morgan Freeman's character is Nelson Mandela.

J.Edgar (2011): Leonardo DiCaprio's character is John Edgar Hoover.
In this film, J.Edgar Hoover is supposed to be gay.

If you watched Play Misty For Me, High Plains Drifter, The Eiger Sanction,
The Outlaw Josey Wales, Bronco Billy, Honkytonk Man, Sudden Impact, Heartbreak Ridge,
White Hunter Black Heart, The Rookie, Unforgiven, A Perfect World,
The Bridges Of Madison County, Absolute Power, True Crime, Space Cowboys, Blood Work,
Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Hereafter, American Sniper and Sully, you would notice actors in supporting roles who are from ethnic minorities, and even non American.

So, the question I want to ask you is: Do you know Clint Eastwood movies ?

reply

To be fair, Clint Eastwood drew a lot of criticism for his stereotypical and negative depictions of hmong characters in Gran Tarino and Letters From Iwo Jima. Not sure if I'd call him racist, but he definetly seems like a "I don't care if you're black, yella, green, brown, or purple, just do it over there away from me" kinda old guy.

reply

What's "fair" about your late reply here? 🤔

reply

How is it unfair?

reply

🤪

reply

Thank you for your answers. I consider Letters From Iwo Jima a foreign movies even if it was directed by an American director.

To answer your question. I do watch some movies directed by Clint Eastwood but not him as an actor. Many American movies, including Clint's tend to cast minorities actors in supporting roles, so I have no interest to know. That's why I ask for Clint's movies with minorities actors play as Lead role.

"Clint Eastwood is the most underrated director in the world today."

reply

No he doesn’t. Clint Eastwood is a living legend and a very decent man, beloved by everybody.

If you don’t like him then you’re just a toxic twat who hates virtue.

reply

Well, among others Clint Eastwood isn't really an idol of feminists. 🙂
Means, he isn't "beloved by everybody".

reply

Hence why I said ‘If you don’t like him then you’re just a toxic twat who hates virtue.’

reply

Insulting others doesn't prove a point or opinion.

reply

It’s not an insult, it’s a description.

reply

Yah yah...'corriger la fortune'.

reply

OK

reply

I'm sure at almost 94, Clint's broken up about you feeling he's a total ass

reply

He's a good director but only a few of his performances have ever struck me as great. In The Line of Fire is one of his better acting jobs.
