Anyone else like watching True Crime shows?

I love it. Especially the show "Forensic Files". It's fascinating learning about DNA, blood samples and how it's used to capture guilty people. Or exonerating wrongfully convicted prisoners. It's fascinating how so much as changed since the 90s in terms of DNA testing.

Also, I like reading up on high-profile crime cases. My favorite is the OJ Simpson murder case which was momumental in DNA testing and trials. Or the Chris Watts case of 2018.

Or the Karla Homolka case here in Canada. If DNA testing was as it is now back in the 90s, those girls could've been saved.

Would you mind elaborating on your "reading up" regarding the OJ Simpson trial, which received monumental television news coverage? What makes it your favorite in terms of written material?

I myself am partial to a certain Southern Californian trail where the defendant was on the line for around 20 counts of murder but ended up running for DA after getting off the hook.

I will post a link to the full trial coverage if anyone's interested.

There's also a highly recommended documentary about the whole affair on Tubi, Plex, Netflix, etc.

I will just about watch any true crime show. Very fascinating stuff!

Sure. Speaking of the Simpson case, have you seen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_People_v._O._J._Simpson:_American_Crime_Story
The cast is great and overall it is a fave of mine, along with

Darren Criss is superb in the role.

Great 4-eposode miniseries. I'm unfamiliar with last year's Netflix one. I'd like to see it but don't have Netflix.

I also like Forensic Files.

Manhunt: Unabomber is pretty good https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhunt_(2017_TV_series)

One of my favorite documentaries is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enron:_The_Smartest_Guys_in_the_Room

yes, also certain celebrated trials, like the adelsons down in florida, and the chad & lori daybell trial, recently completed, in idaho and az.

reply

Me too. There are so many on YouTube.

I'm currently watching a series called The New Detectives but it must be another country's name for Forensic Files because it's all acted the same way and the same narrator.

There are many small indie channels I love too.
I watch them daily.

Ever watch a channel called Matt Orchard? He's very good.

reply

No, I've not come across that channel but I will have a look. Thanks for the recommendation.

reply

Yes. I subscribe to a few YouTube channels that do True Crme.

I was kind of surprised to learn that it's kind of considered a woman thing. I always thought it was a genre that attraced men and women equally.

Monumentally bad human behavior is always fascinating. Especially when they're upper or upper middle class. When proles slaughter each other, its somehow less surprising/compelling. I'll still watch, though.

Can't wait for this Idaho Kohlberger or whatever case to pop off. He seems to have aspired to being a celebrated thrill killer from way back.

It wouldn't surprise me at all that the audience for this trends female. Females swim in a sea of physical vulnerability, so the irl threat probably is an even bigger trigger when it comes to exposing these monsters.
