Do you have a go-to new year movie?

I just realized I don't have one. After all these years you'd think I'd have a movie that I watch at this time of year.

reply

I don't either.

I've had a long tradition of watching Halloween (1978) every 31st October. I'm now watching Black Christmas (1974) every 25th December. I plan on watching My Bloody Valentine (1981) every 14th February. I also watch some Friday the 13th movies when that date pops up.

I'd like a great horror movie to watch every new years eve or day. I have seen New Years Evil (1980) but it wasn't good enough to become an annual rewatch.

Horror wise, New Year's Evil is the only one I can think of.

BLOODY NEW YEAR!

reply

New Years Evil (80) is a pretty fun slasher horror as well.

YOU!!@[email protected] HAVE BEEN VERY WORRIED ABOUT YOU...GLAD YOU ARE STILL KICKIN!@!@🥰

RENT MAYBE.

No. Are there New Year Movies? Probably. I can't think of any. Are there New Year Movies we can argue over for the next three decades and debate whether they technically qualify as one or not? I do hope so.

reply

There aren't many, but some do exist. The Poseidon Adventure takes place during a New Year's party.

reply

The Poseidon Adventure (1972) is a good one!

When Harry Met Sally (1989) has some pivotal NYE scenes.

reply

Whatever is showing on the aircraft media section.

I've been watching the Alien movies starting in January. I've done that for several years now.

reply

Aliens > Alien for me.

reply

ME TOO.🤫

reply

I least watch the first two movies but I might watch all four this year. It's been a long time since I've watch Alien 3 and Resurrection.

reply

I don't have any go to movies for holidays or other particular times of year. I will watch more of certain genres, like more horror during Halloween, but there isn't a movie I like enough to watch yearly.

reply

I don't have one I watch yearly, but I have movies I watch often during Halloween and Christmas.

reply

I think it used to be Forrest Gump, but I don't like that movie as much anymore, so nothing for now.

reply

I've always liked the movie, but it never gave me a rewatch vibe. I'm not sure why.

reply

It was good as a seasonal re-watch because it kinda has a seasonal feeling to it. But I'm just not as big of a fan of the film anymore as I used to be. I think The Truman Show might be my new NY go-to.

Bridget Jones's Diary. This movie tells the truth of a new year. It's all about making resolutions, officially writing them down, and royally breaking every single one of them.

It's one of my favorite movies ever, and I think it is the perfect New Year's Eve or New Year's Day rewatch.

I don't see the words "getting drunk" anywhere near here.
