New TV Show To Watch - Recommendations?

Hello there, I've recently finished a very enjoyable viewing of Succession but now I need a new show to watch.

I'll give you a taste of the shows that I have already watched and enjoyed:

The Sopranos
The Wire
Breaking Bad
Better Call Saul
Six Feet Under
Narcos
Game of Thrones
Rome
Deadwood
The Shield
Southland
Boardwalk Empire
The Leftovers
True Detective

What shows would you recommend to me?

Thanks.

You could try something completely different for a change of pace. I assume the ones you listed are all relatively modern serial-type shows, the same idea as a soap opera (each episode picks up where the last one left off). I find those tedious, prone to having lots of "filler" content (because a season-long story arc inherently has to progress at a snail's pace else they would only have a couple episodes per season), and they have no "rewatchability" value for me.

If you haven't already, try an old episodic-type show like Magnum, P.I. (the original 1980s one of course) or Columbo.

I'll second Columbo!

Nowhere Man from 1995 with Bruce Greenwood.

He takes a picture of something he shouldn't have and gets his life erased.

Borrows heavily from The Prisoner but still good.

I've just finished watching "Wanted" , it's an Aussie drama about 2 falsely accused women on the run.
3 seasons of it .
pretty good đź‘Ť

That list looks like any "popular shows you should watch" list. No offense intended, because they *are* good/great shows that appeal to a wide audience. I'll try to give you some suggestions of shows that won't stray too far from that category, but IMO didn't get the audience I think they deserved:

Firefly (2002) - Even if you're not a sci-fi fan, it's so well-written with great characters, and is only 14 episodes, and a sequel movie. Trust me.
Band of Brothers (2002) - Mini-series and one of my favorite WWII productions.
The Terror (2018) - Based on a true story, which even without the slight supernatural addition, would be gripping enough. Read the synopsis and you should be hooked. Can only recommend the first ten-episode mini-series.
Utopia (2013) - UK two season show. Beautifully shot and riveting.
Letterkenny (2016) - Comedy you'll love or not. Worth a shot.
19-2 (2011 Québécois French or 2014 English) - Both excellent TV cop dramas. If you are a fan of Letterkenny, you'll get a kick seeing many of the same actors in serious roles in the English version.
Bored to Death (2009) - A comedy that everyone I've recommended it to has loved.
Justified (2010) - You've probably seen it, but just in case...
Quarry (2016) - only complaint is it didn't last long enough
The Fall (2013) - Gillian Anderson plays an English cop chasing a serial killer in Belfast
Les revenants aka The Returned (2012 French) - remade in US as The Returned (2015) - almost as good as original
The Americans (2013) - prob saw, but just in case...

[edit] Couple unscripted UK shows I am in love with:
An Idiot Abroad (2010)
The Moaning of Life (2013)
Taskmaster (2015) - The original UK show is on YouTube though censored. If you love it like I do, the AU and NZ versions are great, too. As well as the several other non-English European subtitled versions. The only version that sucked is the US version, iMO.

Tu regardes des emissions québécoises!?

reply

Je regardes des (bon) emissions du la Monde! Je parle un très petit peu de Français, mais j'aime la TV Canadienne. Corner Gas, Travelers, Orphan Black, Kyle XY, Dead like Me (but finished it only for Rube/Mandy Patinkin, Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, and KitH, naturellement. Of course I watched 19-2 and Les Revenants en Français avec subs, in addition to their English remakes, which I thought came out very well.

I'd recommend Mr Inbetween (2018). It only has 26 episodes in total. It wrapped up.

It's Australian, It's just 3 seasons, it's excellent.
