Greatest Opening Line In A Rock Song?

For me, this is an easy one. Even though I have a love/hate relation with this artist & his music & his singing, the opening line of "Born To Run" just absolutely fucking rules😎

"In the days we sweat it out on the streets/of a runaway American dream..."

Gordon Lightfoot wrote so many great opening lines to his songs:

1) "I can see her lying back in her satin dress in a room where you do what you don't confess." ("Sundown")
2) "The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down of the big lake they called Gitche Gumee." ("The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald")

I also love this one from David Gates and Bread:

"If a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint you?" ("If")

a great line to accompany David Gates' wonderful voice.

Yes...I love the guitar playing in that song as well. It's pretty much a "perfect song" in my book...great lyrics, great musicianship, excellent singing, etc. Just a beautiful piece of music! ❤

That's not the opening line.

Maybe in a live version. Not the original recording.
