Do you still buy DVDs/Blu-rays?

I have a huge physical media collection, but I've stopped buying them in the last couples of years because of streaming. I just don't find buying them convenient anymore.

yes, but just for tv series. i think the last new movie bluray I bought was Quantum of Solace. which was... ago. but there's something awesome about having a mega-library of all your favorite tv shows.

ABSOLUTELY...ALI AND I WENT HEAVY ON TV OR A COUPLE OF YEARS...THE LIST OF SHOWS WE OWN IS LONG NOW.

No, never. I have a compulsive 'collecting bug,' I'm a tad out of control but I have managed to cut out DVDs/VHS/DVD, I much prefer streaming. Less clutter.

However, my various collections of antiques, comic books, tools, guns and knives, art, vinyl records and books already give me plenty of anxiety. I don't know how I'm going to get rid of this awesome stuff if I ever move to a smaller place, its really alarming to love very old things so much that it upsets you to think of eventually getting rid of it all.

I can't see a piece of American Folk art, a pile of old rock records, a dusty fishing rod or a rusty tool collection at a flea market without pulling out my wallet, it's a serious weakness in my character.

I'm afraid I'll just continue to drown in super cool old American stuff forever, it all is just really super cool and historical to me.
My young son does love the same nonsense as me so I'm giving it all to him.

Yes, I still buy DVDs and Blu-rays.
Right now I'm looking forward to receiving the Blu-ray of Oppenheimer (2023), which will be released this coming Tuesday, November 21st.
I had preordered the Blu-ray from Amazon a few weeks ago.

Of course, and now I’m buying 4K UHD’s.

Why? Because physical media delivers the best quality picture and sound, recreating the cinema experience.

Rewatching classics like Jurassic Park on a decent home cinema is one of life’s great pleasures.

Buy your favourites on physical media, you’re supporting good filmmaking and protecting yourself against streaming censorship.

Yes, only movies I really like, but I'm pissed off at buying blu-rays and then the 4k comes out a few years later. I've been streaming and torrentng movies I'm interested in but don't feel like owning on physical.

Lines of resolution on a screen are among THE LEAST important factors in picture quality. The resolution has ZERO effect on black levels or greyscale accuracy. Paying attention to a monitor’s resolution is like kicking the tires when shopping for a car.
