When do you TAKE DOWN your Yule tree?

Do your kids make you keep it up till, like, April?

Can’t the wife take it down herself?

reply

She’s only 4’11” - she wouldn’t be able to reach the star, lol.

reply

New Year's Day

reply

I like to leave the tree up until December 5, the Twelfth Day of Christmas, although there have been a few times when I have taken it down a couple of days earlier.

reply

That’s 20 days too soon, no?

reply

Oops... I meant January 5, which is the traditional Twelfth Day of Christmas, followed by the Epiphany, or Three Kings' Day, on January 6.

reply

My kids never make me do anything. I'm their parent. We usually take it down around January 6th. We plan on it earlier, but it's just so nice, it's hard to take it down.

reply

You are keeping with the tradition of Christmas being a twelve-day celebration rather than a single day. Because January 5 was the twelfth day, in some cultures it was customary to have all decorations taken down by the evening of that day (Twelfth Night).

January 6 is the Epiphany, or Three Kings' Day.

reply

That's a nice tradition.

reply

It's a nice tradition that I wouldn't mind seeing restored.

reply

Agreed.

reply

For us, it is tradition to take down the Christmas tree around January 13th.

reply

A few days after New Year's day.

reply

January 5th.

reply

I made my parent keep the tree up till most of the tree was bare. I’ve always been assertive.

reply

Mid-February.
