Good/entertaining movies with bad titles

What's an enjoyable film that could've used a title change, in your opinion?

I remember watching John Carter (2012), really enjoying the film but I always felt like that was a boring-ass title for the movie.

Why not John Carter of Mars? The name John Carter does not sell the movie nor does it tell you anything about the movie.

Other ones are Dredd 3D & The Constant Gardner, two films that I really loved but have terrible titles..

And I know Constant Gardner is based on a book but they could've easily changed the title for the feature film.

Martha Marcy May Marlene” (2011)

That sounds like a movie about a group of girls who go on a road trip to escape their daily lives.

Or 4 sisters trying to cope with issues after the death of their dad.

Could be both, idk. 😂

a fine performance from elizabeth olson as she tries to leave a cult.

reply

Putting it on the list. Love me some Liz Olsen.

'Sexy Beast' ( 2000 ) Gritty crime/heist/psychological thriller with Ray Winstone. Ben Kingsley and Ian McShane play menacing menacing gangsters.

reply

Fucking love that film, man! And I agree, the title does not do the movie justice.

reply

I ACTUALLY REALLY LIKE THAT TITLE AND THE POSTER...GREAT FILM TOO.

star 80

That's definitely a terrible title. I had to look it up cause I was like, wtf could that be about? lol

reply

give it a go

reply

On the list it goes!

this movie used to play on TCM underground after midnight, now TCM has it on at noon on a Friday

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023) - It might have done a lot more business at the box office with a better title.

reply

Feck yes! Also, why not just Operation Fortune?

Guy Ritchie's movie titles have always or mostly been straight forward but this was just shit.

reply

I DIDN'T WATCH IT FOR SOME TIME BUT LOVED IT WHEN I DID SEE IT...THE TITLE IS DEFINITELY OFF.

reply

Baby Driver (2017)

I think there was even talk at the time that the title may have negatively impacted its box office performance.

reply

I remember recommending it to a friend once & his response was, "is that a sequel to Boss Baby?"

Made me laugh.

King Rat (1965)

My favorite novel and also a pretty good movie. Never liked the title.

reply

MY FAVORITE NOVEL TOO!...I HAVE READ IT SEVEN TIMES THROUGHOUT MY LIFE.

I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE BUT FELT IT WAS A PALE IMITATION OF THE AMAZING BOOK....I MIGHT BE A SNOB ON THIS ONE AS I LOVE AND KNOW THE BOOK SO WELL.

"Star Wars"

reply

Right? The whole franchise turned out to be a bunch of people hitting each other with glowy sticks.

Disappointed!

reply

My favorite movie of all time is Bad Boy Bubby.

reply

Animal abuse gluttony deluxe.

reply

Did you watch it or no?

reply

Unfortunately, yes.

reply

Good that you made it through the first 30 mins, but it doesn't sound like you understood the point of those scenes. Kinda why I question whether you actually watched it.
