Why aren't more women topless in New York? It's legal!

Since 1992. I've only seen topless women in Times Square, but they were doing it for tips and photos.

Why not workout topless in Central Park? Many men do.

Why doesn´t everybody smoke cigarettes? Its legal! You could ask a million stupid questions with this logic.

reply

It's actually highly prohibited DESPITE being "legal."

reply

Cigarettes are expensive and detrimental to your health. And as Tickets pointed out, it's a hassle. For those of us who want to smoke it's very difficult to do so in public.

If it were legal for a man to have his sack on display, would he really do it??

reply

Some in the LGBTQ+ community would.

reply

It's called the Folsom Street Fair, in these parts.

reply

Why would they? Women get started at by creepy men when they're wearing clothes, so it would only be worse if they were topless.

reply

Presumably because they don't want to.

I suspect you can probably think of a very long list of things that are entirely legal that you personally don't want to do. I know I can.

reply

Because working out without support is impractical, women don't want to experience further harassment than they do whilst fully clothed, and cities are notoriously cold because skyscrapers block out a lot of natural light. Why do you think they should want to go topless in NY? What would be the motivation or positives for women to do this?

It's simple.

Societal norms have not caught up with the law. In due time, it will be commonplace in NY as clothing and bras are a form of suppression and compression, relatively speaking.

Sadly, the one female nudist I know recently passed away at the age of 87, so I can no longer take her to New York and make your dreams come true.

But if her family ever gets around to holding the memorial service, there should be a lot of her fellow Old Hippies there. I'll ask around, maybe one of her old gurlfriends might like to go to New York and let everything flap in the breeze from the mobility scooter.
