Duck eggs

I tried duck egg for the first time today (as an omlette).

Too creamy for me. I'll stick to chicken eggs.

Anyone here tried ostrich egg ? I'm assuming that the bigger the eggs get, the richer they get ?

reply

I do remember reading once that ostrich eggs have a very high protein content, which makes sense.

No...my local health food store has the best eggs in the area...noticeably better than most supermarket eggs...bedsides duck eggs they carry quail eggs, but I have always been shy about trying new, different foods.

reply

I eat quail eggs regularly. They make a good snack.

reply

They're small aren't they ? Never tried them either. How do they compare to chicken eggs ?

reply

We buy them hard boiled, so they’re handy for snacks. A little saltier I’d say

reply

Absolutely! I started getting my eggs and veg from a local farm shop and you can definitely tell the difference from supermarkets.

reply

i find them greasy and heavy with fat.

reply

In Asia, duck eggs are eaten regularly. Usually salted and boiled.

Why Do Minnesotans Say 'Duck, Duck, Gray Duck?

I've no idea what's going on in this story 😄

Some friends have a country place with ducks and a pond, they get enough duck eggs to give some to me. Yay!

Whether one likes them fried or scrambled is a matter of taste, but when used for cooking they're noticeably richer than the same recipe made with chicken eggs. Think plain old baked custard is boring? It isn't if you make it with duck eggs!
