Movies that scared you as a kid

Pinocchio, the Disney one. Probably the scariest Disney film for me as a child-- funny enough, it's now my favorite Disney movie because it's so disturbing.

Also, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids-- the insects in that freaked me out, among all the other incidents those kids ran into.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone freaked me out during the scenes in the woods, specifically the scene with the unicorn blood. I was like seven at the time and watched the scene through my hands.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within space ghosts are nightmare worthy.

Sleeping Beauty (1959), specifically when the Princess is in a hypnotic trans following the green ball of light always freaked me out as a kid. Best Disney film in my book.

They Live (1988), was during a Christmas family get-together for my uncle's birthday. Us kids running around the house playing, but I walked into the tv room where some of my family were watching the film on one of those big projector screen TVs. The sight of the aliens shocked me. I was just standing in the middle of the room for a good 30 seconds. Took me another few years to watch the film in full. I ended up having a vivid nightmare, similar but different a bit afterward.

I still like they live a lot today. I can see how it would freak out a little kid.

I have lots of other memories of scenes that have stuck in my head since I was young that really impacted me.

One is from Its Alive (1974) which I haven’t seen since, so I don’t know if it’s a good movie or not. I just remember a monster looking baby walking in the woods and some guy so nervous his fingernails were bleeding.

Plague (1979) There is a scene where a kid, who looked just like me at that age, touches a dead bird and later he’s seen laying on the ground twitching.

Alien is the only movie that scared me as a child.

It is also the only movie that scares me as an adult.

I forgot one-- the sacrifice scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It was like the goriest thing I had ever seen at seven years old. Disturbed me for days after.
