Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands of all time. The sound is so original no other band comes close.
And my brother's back at home with his Beatles and his Stones Everybody likes them.
I can't rank The Who or Pink Floyd because I hate both.
I think Zep should be considered the greatest band of all time. There's blues, hard rock, country, psychedelic and metal in their music.
shareI'd say the Beatles or even Eric Clapton & Cream are more important than Led Zeppelin for their range and influence. But Zeppelin is still the better band.

The reason why I'd put The Beatles last is because they're the most dated. Also they don't rock hard enough.
sharei personally can't stand listening to them anymore. i certainly liked them a lot at one time, but i find them completely gutless and wimpy now. i'd honestly rather listen to anything else.
i kinda feel like there's at least four different pink floyds, & i basically think the first two (barrett, ummagumma, meddle stuff/dsotm & wywh) are pretty great, and the last two (waters ego goes mental & gilmore makes nice fm radio rock) are not for me.

Finally some Who respect. I thought they'd be ranked higher by people.

shareIf you really think that then lyrics are not you thing. I'm into song writing and lyrics...If you repeat the same thing 5 times in a song its not that great.

shareAgreed. Quite often when I learn what the lyrics are to a song I like, it ruins it for me. I listen to the vocals as another instrument and absorb the song as sound. Of course there are exceptions where one cannot help but hear the message being sung and it ends up being cool (I usually like lyrics to Punk and assorted bands like Rush, etc). But personally, the poetry in the writer's mind is the weakness of the tune 9 times out of 10. It is virtually impossible for me to enjoy 80s hair metal if I'm focused on the lyrics unless it is Maiden.

shareExactly. Some songs are obviously lyrics-focused. You can tell that they wrote the lyrics first and are just playing whatever behind it as a delivery system for their droll poetry. No thanks. I like good poetry but don't want 20 bad ones read out loud to me for every one good one. Shove a reed instrument into that soup-cooler or get to chirping.
I probably know only 15% of the lyrics of my favorite bands (some, impossible to know without reading them).
So we not friends anymore?!?
