Has moviechat become the default best alternative since IMDb shut down their boards?

I don't know that any single site will ever have the same user base that IMDb had before they pulled the plug. At the time, I remember a lot of alternatives springing up. I found my home here on moviechat, but are there other alternatives that split the old IMDb users?

Do you think most users found some place to get comfortable or that most just never got involved anywhere else again?

Not my default but actually visit here for the archived imdb boards when watching movies from before 2017. For reading discussions of newer movies I go to reddit and tmdb if looking at cast/actors etc.

I think so, I come here first after watching a film for some more insight, though there are some simple things that would make it a complete replacement ;

imdb ratings shown on mobile view (only appear on desktop)

director / filmography the only thing I go back to imdb for

limit reply indentation it becomes unreadable on mobile!

These are good suggestions. I would also like a way to "like" or "thumbs up" a post. Many times I have an interesting dialog that comes to a natural conclusion, and I want that person to know I read their final response. But as the natural end of the conversation it doesn't warrant a response itself. So a simple "like" feature would suffice.

It would also be nice to embed reaction gifs or photos in a post.

Or you could just do this: -

I think so. Reddit can be good for specific movies.
