We are the 19xx people (choose year)

I want to create a community that doesn't use technology past a certain year. Think Amish but not that extreme. We will have electricity and technology. The question is "what year did we get the lifestyle/technology balance correct?"

I'm feeling the late 80s/early 90s.

What do you think?

It could even be a 1950s society where gender roles were still defined.

Sounds like the best idea you've ever had. Go set yourself up with a pre-internet lifestyle and never post here again.

1901 for some reason

Victorian era?

How can you do that without the Flux capacitor?

You establish a town and make rules about what is and is not permissible.

I doubt that working women would want to go back to needing a man to cosign a bank loan or credit card, being blamed for rape if she wasn't a virgin and the boredom of housework as career which Betty Freidan wrote about in "The Feminine Mystique" which set-off the 1960s Women’s Movement.

Rupert Murdoch, Mark Zuckerberg, the Twitter guy and Newt Gingrich appear to be the ones who started all the ruckus. Let's beam them to the Stone Age while they're still infants.
