Texas opening up and removing mask mandates.

seems a bit too soon

Irrational, unscientific, politically motivated, and deadly dangerous. I feel sorry for workers and small business owners who are now shouldered with the burden of enforcing mask wearing on their premises to protect themselves and their workers.

reply

Then don’t go there.

reply

do they have the power restored there yet?

reply

I don’t know. I don’t live there.

reply

good thing

reply

I think masks are only marginally useful, and so I don't believe this decision will have any significant impact.

reply

they were effective against the flu.

Not according to the CDC website* ... before they changed it a little over a year ago (right after Fauci changed his tune). A highly lauded doctor spent presumably days preparing his speech to the nation on this grave scenario we all faced. What could be more important? He must have been very careful writing and practicing the speech. The speech in which he said to not worry about wearing masks. Then 30 minutes later he made another speech flip flopping on what he and the CDC itself had stood by for decades.

What exactly happened there? Was it a mistake? A speech of this importance and magnitude was delivered with this crucial misinformation? Was that incompetence or did we witness him transform from a doctor to a bureaucrat? Either answer is troubling.

States that locked down hard and triple masked themselves are doing about the same as the states that were lax about it.

*CDC official and long standing statement on masks "Masks are ineffective at preventing the spread of influenza." This data, once easily accessed, was buried on their website and eventually erased.

reply

so it is a coincidence that there is absolutely no flu this winter?

reply

You tell me. You think zero flu means the masks saved us? What other explanation could there be?

reply

yes - the masks along with the other measures have eliminated the flu.

reply

So for years, the CDC was wrong about masks?

reply

I have no problem wearing a mask, even if only marginally useful. What bothers me is when people are attacked for not wearing them. If someone has asthma or gets panic attacks from the sensation of having their nose and mouth covered, I don't think they should be forced to do it. It creates a lot of unnecessary trauma for them.
