McCabe & Mrs. Miller
Shane
The Professionals
The Outlaw Josey Wales
The Ox-Bow Incident

reply

I once taped The Professionals for later viewing ...
,,, and of course, I didn't want to be listening to it the whole time I was taping it.
So when I got around to watching it, there was no sound.
Finally I realized I had muted the source rather than the output (or whatever).
I was pissed ! But who could I be pissed at?
I seem to remember it wasn't quite as good as it looked, but with those actors at that time, they could have been playing horse shoes and it would have been tremendous viewing.

btw, thumbs up for McCabe, Shane and Ox-Bow. I have a soft spot for Liberty Valance, Vera Miles is yummy, Marvin, Strother Martin, and the whole tale makes for a great picture.

An odd film in the model of Shane is the Sam Elliott led Quick and the Dead. I like it's simplicity and B movie feel.

The Quick and the Dead (1995)

reply

The Quick and the Dead is good with a great cast! 👍

Respectfully, I find Q/D ('95) garish and insincere. As an old school guy, it wasn't respectful of the genre, nor groundbreaking enough to admire. Sure, it's entertaining, but I can't get immersed in it. Sort of a long joke you either like or don't.
But obviously, that's just me.
