Shows that improved after the first season

I think that usually the first season is the best or one of the best seasons of a show. It still feels fresh, it has a clear concept and very often they feel the need to change things around in the second season (and not always for the better). Sitcoms may be the exception, because comedy is a complicated thing.

But what are shows that significantly improved after the first season?

EDIT: I'm going with a random one. Matlock!

Always Sunny in Philadelphia - my favorite show of all time.

It was pretty good the first season but the gang was still finding their characters (especially Dee). They added Danny DeVito before season 2. At the time I thought it was a desperate move but, boy, was I wrong. The show absolutely took off and never looked back.

THE NETWORK DEMANDED A BIG NAME BE ADDED TO THE CAST FOR SEASON 2 TO EVEN HAVE HAPPENED...IT WAS DESPERATION CITY...HOWEVER IN THIS INSTANCE...THE IASIP GUYS ARE HILARIOUS AND SMART...THEY CHOSE DANNY DEVITO.THE PERFECT ADDITION...A BIG NAME WHO GIVES YOU BIG LAUGHS WITHOUT OVERPOWERING THE ALREADY ESTABLISHED DYNAMIC...THE BEST OUTCOME OF THE WORST ULTIMATUM IMAGINABLE.

The Shield (underrated drama that should be required viewing for anyone who loves dramas)
The Wire (actually the first season was my favorite, but seasons 3 & 4 closely match it in quality)
Breaking Bad

Waited for someone to mention Breaking Bad. I had to sit through the first season.

Person of Interest

the first season was more episode centric, stories were completed in each episode.
the next seasons became a series with continuity, more intricate, and also better.

RT season audience ratings: 74, 76, 81, 81,78

ITS MY FAVORITE SHOW EVER AND I LOVE ITS FIRST SEASON....HOWEVER ILL SAY THE OFFICE...ONCE THEY WERE LOCKED IN FOR A SEASON TWO,THEY STRAYED FROM THE BBC MODEL ENOUGH TO MAKE IT ITS OWN THING AND THE CHARACTERS STARTED TO TAKE SHAPE THE SHOW BECAME ICONIC.

Parks & Recreation. The first season wasn't bad, but the second season was undeniably great in comparison.
