are you having a freakishly warm winter in your region so far?

as some of you may know, i'm from winnipeg, and winnipeg is, generally speaking, a frozen shithole during the winter months.

personally, i don't mind cold weather. lots of the time, i crave it, in fact. i much prefer a sharp, crisp cold day to the smothering, punishing heat of summer.

but for the past few weeks, we have had temps hovering around the 0 c mark (32 f for the yanks in the room), which is atypical. and kinda nice. it's certainly easier to take long walks or go for a jog in those conditions than in -20 weather.

apparently we're going to be reverting to the mean and seeing more seasonal temps late next week.

is it freakishly warm where you are too?

reply

Yeah. Very little snow too.

reply

yup - not much snowfall here either.

Sometimes The 'Peg gets more snow than here in Toronto, but global warming is messing with both of us.

reply

It's definitely been a comparatively mild winter.

reply

it's been around freezing and sunny here for about two weeks. great weather.

I live in Roseville California and it has been a warm winter for us too. The other day, it was close to 70 degrees outside. It felt like Spring weather!!!

Oh yah

Record highs across northern Nevada continue into weekend

The downside is warm temps and no snow mean possible drought conditions at some point :(

We need a snowpack in the northern Sierra Nevada for our water supply.

It was 50 degrees today in Cincinnati. We've had some days in the 20's but it's been up and down since November with very little snow.

Aside from a damaging 18 inch overnight snow dump 5 weeks ago and a Christmas Day blackout that lasted 36 hours it's been snow and ice free here for some time...the temp is a very reasonable 20-40f for a few weeks now and may go up to the high 40s this weekend in upstate New York...NO complaints👍

It seems a bit 'freakish' right now to answer your question because I expected this winter to be really punishing...the last couple were fairly mild and I expected much worse this winter
