Double Features You'd Like To See

Earlier today Laura Grace and I wound up chatting about movies that would pair well in a DF, in our case the obsessed stalker sub genre of thrillers

We came up with Fatal Attraction+Basic Instinct and Fear+Enough

Pair two movies into a double feature you would like to see

I'd spend four hours at the theater to see Christine (83)+Maximum Overdrive(86)

Stephen King, Killer machines, 80s goofiness...What's not to love?

Can you think of some?

The Longest Day - Saving Private Ryan.

Great casts, iconic scenes, I'd be in

Both from the early 1960s -- Fail Safe, then Dr. Strangelove. Same story told two different ways. They'd have to be shown in that order, though.

reply

Fail Safe sounds good
Strangelove was terrific

If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. Same story as Strangelove, except told completely seriously -- computer glitch, bomb run to Moscow, etc. The promo for this film should have been, "if you have a brain, this will scare the hell out of you." But if seen immediately after Strangelove it would be too hard to take it seriously.

This would be the last double feature I'd want to see ...
The Last of the Mohicans (1992) - The Last Samurai (2003)

Hmm, since I own both on Blu-ray, I might just watch them now before I lose power tomorrow what with that darned hurricane coming.

In the "so bad it's good" category -- Bad Ronald (1974) and The Pit (1981)

reply

Bad Ronald is awesome. ABC movie of the week.

reply

I've got 'em both on DVD but haven't watched them in ages. If you liked Bad Ronald I think you'd also like The Pit, if you haven't seen it yet.

reply

I remember Bad Ronald. Scott Jacoby had the title role.

So speaking of Scott, here's one he did with a young Jodie Foster, along with another of her films ...
The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane (1976) - Panic Room (2002)
I think they'd go together quite nicely.

I had heard about the first, and had it recorded on the DVR. Then the hard drive died. I'll have to look for it again. Never heard of Panic Room, or maybe I did but forgot about it -- I'll give it a look, thanks!

Six hours of implausible insanity punctuated by two 15 minute breaks for parking lot beers

Point me to the ticket booth😃

reply

Haha I new you'd like it 👍🏼🤺

reply

Great lineup, though I'd stick Con Air in the middle as a palate cleanser between two John Woo movies.

Red rock west and U turn.
