I HAVE AN ACRE PROPERTY SURROUNDED BY SIMILAR PROPERTIES...ALL SWARMING WITH FERALS,REPRODUCING AT AN INSANE RATE.THE LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER HAS A SOLID FERAL PROGRAM AND ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO HELP.ITS BECOME QUITE THE PROBLEM AROUND HERE IN THE LAST FEW YEARS.

Oh this is edited for the downers who don’t appreciate what KOWALSKI is doing to help the kitties. I LOVE CATS!!!https://images.app.goo.gl/MW9WReBUtKy9s6xn7

reply

my point was that it wouldn't work in a city. kowalski seems to live in a more rural area where it might work.

reply

Not a cat person, but that’s great you guys are fixing the ferals and starting a rescue. So many cats!!! Good for you for taking on that kind of responsibility. I couldn’t do it.

reply

Froggyandtoadie2, not a cat person??
Have you ever really known a cat? No civilised person with love in their heart is Not a cat person.

Cats are so SWEET!

Just my opinion. 🐱

reply

Yes, they are sweet, but there are a few out there who need their mouth washed out with soap:

😆I’d love to have one of those cats!

I've been watching this guy's videos (different than above) for several months. He adopted a stray that came around his house, it took him a long time to gain the cat's trust. I love Cinnabon.

I also donate a few $$ to this couple

Cats are bitchy and aloof. I like dogs, got 2 of them. I did have a cat once that was raised around dogs, and that cat was badass. He road tripped and camped with us. I got heart, but civilized I am not.🙂

reply

Haha! Yeah cats can be bitchy and aloof. I wish my orange guy was. He’s like a dog though and he drives me nuts when I wish he’d be like a CAT!

Neuter/Spay and release is perhaps the most effective way to deal with a growing feral population...good for you for helping, and also for rescuing the little ones. Who does the surgery?

reply

I was wondering this too. Would be expensive to pay for a vet to do it.

Hi Tim, I know I’m not your fave person round here, but I have some info to answer your question.
In some larger cities there are rescue agencies that have programs called TNR. They set out raccoon type cages with food in them to catch the feral cats. They spay/neuter them, then they release them back where they were. That way, the cats can live out their lives together, as families in their colonies. But the males won’t fight over the females, which kills them young, as cat fighting is very toxic due to cat saliva. It’s a carnivore thing as I understand. Plus, TNR reduces the stray cat population, which is beneficial for obvious reasons.
Many people devote their time, as KOWALSKI does, to this endeavor.

Also, many people, wealthy and not, donate money to this endeavor for their love of cats, and also for the love of birds, which are prey to stray and outdoor cats.

Fix Nation in Los Angeles for example, neuters up to 100 cats a day, that’s right ONE HUNDRED cats per day. It’s a donation funded operation. Perhaps they get government funding as well, not sure. But they sure work hard for the kitties.

They must be very tiny if you have to do what is necessary to make them go potty. I have a feral cat that is 6 years old. She showed up in my garage alone as a little kitten but was old enough to eat cat food. I made a barricade where she could hide from the other outdoor cats and keep her food and water from them. I used a kind trap to catch her so she could be spayed and I should have kept her in a cage until she would let us handle her. Unfortunately I didn't and to this day she won't let us come near her. She is a dependent feral - we supply all of her food and water and she sleeps in the garage.

reply

102000 that’s so sweet that you care for her.

Not for nothing but if you made a point of paying attention to her, pulling a string around for her to play with, giving her treats in a kitty treat ball, stuff like that, she’d come round.

At any rate, she’s lucky to have you, but with focused attention I have no doubt she could be won over.

Wait, you are performing vet surgery in your garage? Are you a licensed vet with proper surgical equipment and medications. This sounds like a noble mission but I am alarmed here. I need to lie down and take some deep breaths.

reply

LMAO🙂

Well done Kowalski and Kowalski Jnr. You're doing good work.

reply

Keep up the good work, Bubbles!

My two sweet, spoiled, cuddly, purry house cats started life as feral kittens, and they were given to me by a person who did the same sort of thing you're doing now - fixing ferals to control populations, and adopting out a lot of kittens. I encourage everyone who loves cats to consider adopting a feral kitten, reducing feral cat populations is a good thing for the local wildlife, and they can make the absolute best pets in the universe!

I will urge you to do one thing based on my experience with the people who do this, Kowalski, and that's to release fixed feral adults and kittens, and not keep every cat who can't find a home in your house. That way lies madness, and reeking carpets.

THANKFULLY MY MOTHER AND DAUGHTER WILL BE TAKING THEIR "KEPT" KITTENS TO THEIR ROOMS...THEY CAN DEAL WITH THAT🙂
