What pets do you have and what are their names?

I have three cats -

Joey - was found at restaurant when he was a very little kitten and is 11 years old and is my precious baby. He was so small and fluffy, we thought he was a girl and named him Josie but when we discovered he was a boy he became Joey.

Sammy - just showed up one day and is now about 15 years old. Last year he had to have an injured eye removed, so he is now "One Eyed Sam."

Gizzy - I found her in my garage 6 years ago when she was a kitten and has remained semi feral. She has never let me pick her up but she is dependent on us for food and water. We used a kind trap to catch her when she was young and have her spayed, so no unwanted kitties.

We have a cat. His name is Berlioz (but he's normally called "Berra" or "Berris"), and he's black with yellow eyes.

I have 100s of fish homed in 5 HUGE aquariums. I never name my fish except for 1. He is a Midas that I’ve had since he was a fry. 13 years later and he’s the size of a football. He is the alpha in his tank so I started calling him King Midas.

One day 1 of dishwashers at my restaurant started freaking out because he found a baby turtle the size of a quarter in the crawfish delivery. I knew nothing about turtles at the time but I put it in a solo cup and took him home. I did the research and discovered that I had a red eared slider which is very common. Today he is about 5 inches long and heathy asf. I named him Frankie. He has a tank mate named Fiona. She’s a 3 stripped mud turtle which I purchased from a local breeder.

I also have 2 dogs. My pit bull Naetrum (everyone calls him Nate Dawg) and my Jack Russell Jessie. Jessie is a rescue and a HANDFUL but we are bound for life. You need a lot of energy to keep up with Jack Russells. They are definitely not for beginner dog owners. Don’t let the show Frasier fool you.

Animals are my weakness. I prefer the company of animals to humans at times.

Wow, is it really possible for a fish to live that long?

reply

Yup and longer. No threat of predator fish or humans and a good balanced diet equals longer life span.

Wish we could post images on this site.

I like black cats. Is his tail missing?

reply

Absolutely not. He had it curled behind his back, so it looks a bit weird on that photo.

Two cats so far. I adopted them both from an animal shelter when they were two months old, and now they're over a year old. They started out as feral kittens before they were fostered and taken to the shelter, but now for the most part they act like regular housecats.

Iris - Short-haired silver tabby. She is the more shy, skittish of the pair but she has a lot of love to give. Her most amusing and endearing trait happens to be her obsession with my TV. She and Ivy would come running when I pop open my Blu-Ray player, but Iris has taken it further and just come running to the TV stand when I would turn the TV on. She will walk across, perch, rub against the TV when there's sound coming from it. She even meowed at me the one time I sat down to eat in the living room and didn't turn the TV on!

Ivy - Medium-hair, dark brown with white chin, belly, and feet. Super sweet and social, she absolutely loves people and will give head rubs. Shortly after I adopted her, she'd show respiratory symptoms and her eyes would get red. Over time, I learned that she has feline herpes. I was given medication for her eyes and respiratory issues, and soon her right eye got so infected that it wasn't opening and I couldn't see her eye at all when I opened it for her. I was told by the vet that her eye had to be removed, so we did that and while it is sad, Ivy doesn't seem to notice. She adjusted very well and is doing great with just her left eye intact.

A 2 year old rescue tabby. Was already named Harley Quinn so I adjusted the spelling to Harlequin.

She has booster jabs on Wednesday, which I had to reschedule from last week because she is terrified of the carrier. Still not sure how it will go this time 🙀.

We had one black lab - Bogart was his name.

I've been feeding a chipmunk that lives in my yard lol. I'll occasionally leave it a couple nuts or some grapes on the deck.
