Nothing worth watching in the 2020s?
share@samoanjoe. I didn't realize that the original poster was serious about clumping together 2020 with 1920-29! Anyhow, normally I spend the first few months of every year catching up with all the best movies from the *previous* year (so Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Atlantics, The Lighthouse are 3 of the best new movies I've seen in 2020 & they're all from 2019). A new year doesn't normally start to form its own identity until at least April, by which point of course shutdowns blew up almost everything.
For me, then, 2020 hasn't really got going yet, feels stillborn, and I'd be stretching to recommend anything. The Vast of Night was sort of fun?
Woman in the Moon (1929)
Spies (1928)
And already on my shortlist for top movies of the year (and with the way things are looking it'll probably be a pretty short list): The Vast of Night (2020).
Battleship Potemkin (1925)
