Are you a war veteran?
I'm not.
shareNO SERVICE FROM MYSELF,MY FATHER WAS A PROTESTING HIPPIE DURING VIETNAM,MY GRANDFATHER WAS A WWII VETERAN/POW WITH A PURPLE HEART...I WOULD HAVE SERVED HAD THERE BEEN A NEED,BICKERING OVER OIL AND SAND DIDNT SEEM WORTHY TO ME.
shareYour father's a good man.
shareAh, interesting. Great family!
shareMy father is a retired CWO4. Chief Warrant Officer 4th Class. Roughly equivalent to a Colonel's rank. Twenty-seven years of service. I was born on an Army base. Spent the first ten years of my life on military bases around the world.
When we came "home" I was completely lost. These people out here act like animals. After all this time I've adapted but it doesn't make it any less pathetic.
At age 18 I had a decision to make - sign up for selective service or not. The question I asked myself was this: Would I fight to protect myself, my family, friends, neighbors - our freedom and way of life? The answer was easy, so I signed up. Simple. Fortunately the draft never came about and after 9/11 I was too old and busted up. My body and mind were "unmalleable".
Everyone has the ability to fight, to kill. We're human, it's in our nature. Anyone who won't fight, won't do whatever is necessary to protect and defend the things that matter, are important, precious... has NO place in this world. The "protectors" will Not always be there for you, in fact they usually aren't because there simply aren't enough.
Ah, I guess long story short is that no, I'm not a veteran but the spirit was always willing. Still is - sometimes 😃
Yes - In Northern Ireland and the first Gulf War. 🇬🇧

I spent six years in the Army, but never saw combat. My late father served in WW II in the First Special Service Force, was wounded and received the purple heart. They made a film about the unit called The Devil's Brigade. That's the nickname the Germans gave them.
In the film Inglorious Basterds, you can see Brad Pitt wearing the red arrowhead FSSF unit patch on his left arm.
😎
Nope. But my dad and grandfather were. Dad served in WWII (in Italy as a radar technician), granddad in WWI (Navy ensign in the north Atlantic, helping protect supply routes). My son was in the Army for two years. Unfortunately, he was medically discharged due to a back injury he received during Airborne training.
