Can you name a person who was once in a band, but is better as a solo artist?

Other than Michael Jackson, I can't think of anyone whose solo career was more well received than when they were in a band/group.

Black Sabbath > Ozzy Osbourne

Cream > Eric Clapton

The Police > Sting

Creedence Clearwater Revival > John Fogerty

Genesis > Phil Collins

The Beatles > John Lennon/Paul McCartney/George Harrison/Ringo

Faces > Rod Stewart

Led Zeppelin > Robert Plant

The Velvet Underground > Lou Reed

The Stooges > Iggy Pop

Does Alice Cooper count? They were a band, he went solo and kept the name.

Beyonce > Destiny's Child

What about duets?
Tina Turner > Ike & Tina
Cher > Sonny and Cher

It's a matter of taste of course, but in my opinion, Robert Plant solo was not better than Zeppelin, I prefer Sting in the police, and as good as their solo careers were, the Beatles were better together.
