Fun movie👍

As far as B actors may I present Mr. John Saxon
He's been in a ton of Horror, Thriller and Action flicks and has nearly 200 projects under his belt...and the rumors about his 'hair system' are very amusing😃

reply

it's a comb over.

reply

I'd like to see you pull a great b level horror after 1990!!! Oh my.

reply

The Ritual (2017)

reply

Maybe some of his hair is but I've heard he shows up to auditions with a bunch of hair pieces and is pretty mellow about the whole thing...LOL, that dude cracks me up, he's quite a sport

reply

John Saxon is the man!

LMAO "hair system".

reply

I know right?!?
He apparently has no shame about it, as a bald dude I love that guy😂

reply

John Saxon is great! He was in Dario Argento's Tenebre (1982) as well as Antonio Margheriti's Cannibal Apocalypse (1980)! He was also in Blood Beach (1980) which is like Tremors, except on a beach.

reply

And a great many others!
Welcome to MovieChat, I hope you enjoy it

Green Room (15) is worth checking out as is Blue Ruin (13)

Both were really tight thrillers, I mean freaky tight!

Both directed by Jeremy Saulnier and on Netflix or Amazon Prime streaming

reply

Yes Green Room .. Great but not a b movie. Thats online with Memento.

reply

Some of these definitions can be vague, what do you consider a B movie T?

reply

Something you would be slightly embarrassed to post here. It seems if its before 1990 it gets a nostalgic pass. Thats why I said 1990. With 1990 There is nothing to hide behind but your cheesy B movie.

reply

OK, post 90 and a bit silly!
Gotcha👍

I'm going to search some up, later gator😉

reply

Varying budgets but here are some goodies:

The Craft
Brain Dead
Bride Of Re-Animator
Deep Rising
Buried Alive
Graveyard Shift
Apt Pupil
Death Machine
Mirror, Mirror II: Raven Dance
The Guardian

reply

creep 2014

reply

I haven't seen the whole movie but wow that main guy is definitely super creepy.

reply

the sequel's good too.
though i'd say they're a little too well made to truly qualify as b-movies, maybe.
but why quibble, they're both good fun. & both are available on netflix.

reply

Troll 2 (1990) and Leprechaun (1993) I would consider b level horror that I enjoyed.

reply

Thats what I was looking for. Its so easy to say some 1980s b horror movie that makes you look cool. But to admit to a 1990s trash horror is a bit harder.

reply

Reeker (2005) was surprisingly entertaining to me. There was a death in an outhouse scene that had to have been difficult to set up but which I thought was well executed. It was simultaneously terrifying, disgusting and darkly humorous.

reply

Interesting. I can't get a preview on Amazon.. I'm still looking.

reply

Wow thank you. This looks like just my kind of movie.. If you haven't seen it try Jeepers Creepers.

reply

I've seen Jeepers Creepers several times. It's one of my favorites.

reply

It Follows and Tale of two Sisters...

reply

I really liked Reeker as well.

reply

Valentine is a B-movie?? Damn, you don't want to hear my b-movie recommendations then lol. Ok, here are a few off the cuff from the higher quality end of the b-spectrum/a-cusp. I could give you hundreds:

Cemetery Man
El Dia de la Bestia
The Wax Mask
Evil Ed
Basket Case 2
Frankenhooker
Winterbeast
A Cat in the Brain
Eko Eko Azarak 1 & 2
Hiruko the Goblin
The Frighteners
Scanners III
Evil Dead Trap 2
Subspecies II: Bloodstone
Dead Alive
Tales From the Hood
Seed of Chucky
The Puppet Master flicks
Wishmaster 1 & 2

Leprechaun 4: In Space
Popcorn
Nightbreed
Premutos The Fallen Angel

reply

Your crossing the line on many of these I suspect for 1990.

reply

These are all 1990 and later for shore. Cross-checked and confirmed. 😎

reply

What about Final Destination and Disturbing Behavior, two of my favorites.

reply

I admit to having a certain fondness for the Final Destination flicks though I wouldn't consider most of them b-movies. I haven't seen Disturbing Behavior, will investigate.

reply

Oh do it.. Katie Holmes at her hottest.

reply

Uh oh!

reply

evil ed is on tubitv. as soon as i'm done fussing about with dinner, i'm hitting play.

reply

Noice! I just saw it for the first time the other day! Rules.

reply

it looks like 4 subspecies films are streaming on tubi. would you say only II is worth checking out?

i have very low standards. non-existent even.

reply

LOL! In that case I'd suggest doing the first two in order. II is the best one. Then if you want to keep going, knowing that it declines after that, do III. If you're still in and ready for potentially more decline, keep going.

reply

i decided to bypass the first one & watch subspecies 2 tonight, & i dug it quite a bit. good make-up effects, cute girls, & the pace chugs along nicely. perhaps could have used a bit more gore, and i wouldn't have complained if there was a little more nudity, but all told this was a good time. i'll probably work backwards & watch the first one tomorrow night

reply

Yay happy to hear you dug it! :D It's among my favorite vampire movies and also I think one of the better Full Moon flicks that I can actually take seriously.

reply

i'm just finishing up the first subspecies. it is, as you said, absolutely not as good as part 2 - make-up & effects aren't as sharp, the story lags & shambles where #2 moved at a nice trot. still watchable though, & the girls are all reasonably foxy, & that's all it takes to make me happy really.

reply

You got it! For me, I would be sold on just the merits of the practical effects, pervasively thick goth atmosfear, and unrelenting Ivan Albrightean ugliness of Bloodstone. The babe constituency is like the pineapple on an anchovy pizza, which happens to be my favorite pizza. :•>

reply

just watched a fun, twisty horror/thriller on shudder called empathy, inc that i enjoyed quite a bit. starkly black and white in a way that might remind you of pi a little, and a neat little sci-fi plot that i'm not sure completely made sense at all times but that i still really liked overall.

reply

Shudder is pretty much the last word in horror.. If they have it , its worth watching.

reply

Wow this looks really cool. Is it all in Black and White .?

reply

yes, all in b&w. if you watch it, let me know what you think. i really dug it.

reply

I added your picks to my watchlist.

reply

Right now, it's Blood Punch (2014). It has cool, supernatural twists, a humorous side that borders on the surreal, and has pretty believable acting from young, hungry names who were fresh off the heels of Power Rangers at the time. Be alert in the beginning for an attention-getter. You can stream it for free from tubitv.
