What's The Last Movie You Watched?

What's the last movie you watched? Be it Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Hulu, cable or out in the theater. Just curious to see what everyone is doing this weekend.

Yesterday I watched the Eddie Murphy film Dolemite Is My Name on Netflix which was really good and very funny.

I began watching Godzilla King of the Monsters on HBO BUT tbh it was getting boring so I flipped through the channels and found on USA they were playing Bad Boys II uncensored so I ended up watching that instead.

Today I'll be watching NFL Championship games. I think this year for the Super Bowl it'll be Chiefs vs Packers that would be a good game. I'm trying to think of what I want to make this year for my Super Bowl snack I might get some wings at Wing Stop never had them or just get some wings at America's Best Wings, had them last year for the Oscars so their pretty good. :)

After I play a bit of Fortnite to get some challenges done I'll watch that new Tyler Perry film on Netflix A Fall From Grace which looks really interesting and good so I'll let ya'll know what I think of it.

"On the Basis of Sex"

It's about Ruth Bader Ginsburg making discrimination based on gender illegal. Well-acted movie. Worth a watch.

reply

Oh yes I saw that yesterday on Showtime me and my Mom saw the trailer for it before they played The Help. It looks interesting I'll give it a look see and let you know what I think of it.

reply

I hope you enjoy it. RBG has lived quite a life and all women in the U.S. owe her some gratitude.

reply

That we do honey, that we do.

Last night I watched the 2018 documentary, This Changes Everything. I streamed it on Crave. It is about discrimination against women in the film industry and features interviews with actors, writers, directors, and producers, including: Geena Davis, Meryl Streep, ChloΓ« Grace Moretz, Reese Witherspoon, Taraji P. Henson, Ellen Pompeo, Patty Jenkins, Shonda Rhimes, Kimberly Peirce, and many more. I thought it was really interesting and compelling. I would rate it a 9/10 and recommend watching the film. I'm going to watch the NFL championship games today too. I'm rooting for the Packers and Chiefs to win. I might watch A Fall From Grace at some point, if it is good.

reply

That sounds awesome, I'm definitely going to watch it.

reply

Yeah, I think you will enjoy it.

I watched the Chiefs game while I cleaned the bathroom and damn I knew Kansas City was gonna win but the Packers got they asses beat. I came back from watching Doctor Who and it was 34 to 7 in the 3rd quarter I was like well I guess the 49ers are going to the Super Bowl. That'll be a good game the Chiefs vs 49ers.

I saw Richard Jewell. It was pretty gripping and I liked the performances of the two male leads. John Hamm was only "decent" in it, granted the role was quite limited. I thought the writing for Olivia Wilde's character was unfortunate. They played into old, outdated stereotypes of ambitious women -- not cool and not interesting. Without spoiling too much, they basically have her so ambitious that's she's willing to sleep with an FBI agent (John Hamm) just to get a scoop. What did people think of that?

reply

I'm going to have to look Richard Jewell up. So far I've liked Jon Hamm in everything I've seen, but recently saw Marjorie Prime and while I thought he was only decent in that too, again his role was limited.

reply

I'd love to see him play some wilder roles! So far, he always reminds me of his character in Mad Men (which I loved).

reply

I would too. He's obviously got some acting chops but so far he hasn't gotten or accepted any roles that have allowed him to stretch.

Mad Man is my gold standard for TV shows.

Wonderpark with my 5 year old daughter.

I do wonder (see what I did there) why it’s called that though, as the park in question is called Wonderland?

reply

You're funny and I saw what you did there. I think that's on STARZ or Epix so I'll have to check it out with my niece to see if she'd want to watch it.

reply

At first my daughter didn't want to watch it, but I persuaded her, now she watches it every day (what the hell was I thinking, lol?).

This morning I went to my parents house and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly happened to be on and close to the graveyard shoot out. I told them it’s one of my favorite scenes and to watch and then to tell me what they thought. After less than a minute or so they were both typing on their cell phones and said this is taking too long. πŸ˜„

This here's boomer country

😊 😊

reply

That is indeed where they live. There is no doubting it. Lol

reply

I'm so sorry. It sucks when your loved ones just don't get it.

reply

Yeah I hate when people do that and they'd rather be on their phones or tablets instead of watching something that might inspire them. If I had had a cellphone back when I was 7 when ET was on I might not be a movie lover. It's the same for when you go to the movies these days, people rather be on their phones instead of watching the film. Why pay $10 to go to the movies if you're going to mess with your phone the whole film, you can do that home for free.

reply

I just happened to flip on The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly yesterday too....right at the graveyard shoot out. Of course I had to watch the rest of the film - without typing on my phone :-)

reply

So glad to hear I’m not alone!!

Do documentaries count? I watch a fair amount of them.

Last night I watched Becoming Cary Grant, which I found very interesting and insightful. The reviews said there wasn't much new in it (aside from some footage Cary shot himself) if you know a lot about him, but I didn't know much so found all of it interesting.

reply

Yes docs count as long as it's entertaining and you enjoyed it.

Today, I watched Maggie's Plan (2015) on Prime. It's directed by Rebecca Miller and stars Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, Julianne Moore and Bill Hader. It is about a single woman who wants to have a baby and falls in love with a married man. I rated Maggie's Plan a 7/10.

reply

I liked the scene in the tub where she talks about how everyone is in a bubble. Yeah 7/10.

reply

Yeah, that was a good scene.
