hard to name one. my lists are too cluttered & ill-defined to single one name out.
guy maddin might be at the top.
the coens would definitely be near the top as well

others would be in the mix:
herzog, probably.

Vertigo is good but not one of my all time favourites.

It definitely is. Rope and Rear Window are my favourite Hitchcock movies. But Vertigo does nothing for me.
