Best TV shows based on movies

it rarely works but there are exceptions like:

Bates Motel - succeeded in not only rebooting one of the most iconic and revered films of all time but also in creating a modern day prequel that was both respectful to the source material and a solid, engaging drama in its own right.

Fargo - Genius concept of adapting the tone and themes of the film while morphing the characters into a brand new array of dangerous oddballs and unlikely heroes. The Coen boys involvement is an undeniable advantage to the show. Film quality television.

Any others to add?

There are quite a few animated TV series that sprang from movies, mostly aimed toward kids, such as The Little Mermaid or Lion King. But one of the most successful is The Pink Panther, which originated in the opening credits of the original 1963 movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jpmrd_GdddI

1. Alice
2. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
3. Parker Lewis Can't Lose. This is one of the rare times when a TV series that completely ripped off a movie wound up being better and more true to the source than the straight adaptation (Ferris Bueller's Day Off)

I really liked the first season of Lethal Weapon. It was a shame that the behind the scenes drama ruined it.

I totally agree with What We Do in the Shadows. I thought I wouldn't like it because I loved the movie so much, but that show is great.

Godzilla: the Animated Series is everything "Zilla" from the 1998 movie isn't - it can breathe flaming fireballs, fight gargantuan monsters and less likely to run away from encounters with others when confronted.

The show is fast-paced, the writing is a good balance between street talk and scientist speak, and lots of carnage in under half an hour.
