What popular movies do you not like?

Here are mine:
- Forest Gump
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- The Matrix
- National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
- Toy Story 3
- The Lion King
- Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
- Black Hawk Down
- Rocky IV

On a side note while I don't hate Lord of the Rings I do think it is very very overrated and wasn't a good representation of the source material.

The Conjuring

The godfather films ( and I normally love crime films )

Anything with Will Ferrell. Seriously loathe that guy.
Airplane - not funny, just stupid
Pulp Fiction - sick, not at all entertaining
American Pie - cheap, gross, wished-it-was-Porky's garbage
Avatar - seriously BAD

I agree with LOTR - love the movies, and also hate them. Some great acting, and scenes, etc, but too any changes.

Big Trouble In Little China

I'm surprised to hear about some of the Lord of the Rings comments. As a lifelong fan of the books, I was surprised that they were able to keep as true to the source as they did. Especially for just 3 hour movies. Admittedly, ROTK did deviate the most, but the movies would have had to have been about 10 hours long each to really get everything in them.

reply

I agree. There would have been mass audience suicides after a few verses of Tom Bombadil

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo!
Ring a dong! hop along! Fal lal the willow!

reply

Sheesh! Tom Bombadil...what an annoying jerk
I've read the LOTRs at least three times and really hate that character

The world is ending and he'd prefer to eat honey and hang out with his sexy lady...

Jumping Jeebus, I hated that chapter and character, it's the worst part of an otherwise classic story

reply

The most interesting thing about him is speculating about who he really is. Tolkien was very sketchy on that topic.

reply

I was unaware of this...I always read him as an annoying hippie who wrote awful poetry and totally bailed

I liked Tom Bombadil but the biggest crime the film committed was omitting the battle of the Shire.

Plus they introduced several subplots but then just half assed them unlike how they were in the book so in the end the whole thing just doesn't make any sense (why are Eowyn and Faramir in love??? Why is Denethor so crazy? Why did Boromir want the ring so badly?). Honestly if you have to half ass something due to time constraints just don't put it in the movie, save it for the expanded edition and do it right.

reply

I agree with Jackson that the Battle of the Shire would have been very anticlimactic.

reply

See that was my favorite chapter out of the whole book.

The One Ring had absolutely no power over him. Remember that Galadriel and even Gandalf knew that taking possession of the Ring would corrupt them and turn them to evil. Bombadil grabs it, puts it on without disappearing and then casually tosses it away.

'Show me the precious Ring!' he said suddenly in the midst of the story: and Frodo, to his own astonishment, drew out the chain from his pocket, and unfastening the Ring handed it at once to Tom.

It seemed to grow larger as it lay for a moment on his big brown-skinned hand. Then suddenly he put it to his eye and laughed. For a second the hobbits had a vision, both comical and alarming, of his bright blue eye gleaming through a circle of gold. Then Tom put the Ring round the end of his little finger and held it up to the candlelight. For a moment the hobbits noticed nothing strange about this. Then they gasped. There was no sign of Tom disappearing!

Tom laughed again, and then he spun the Ring in the air - and it vanished with a flash. Frodo gave a cry - and Tom leaned forward and handed it back to him with a smile.

Hippie show off LOL
He just annoyed me no end

Wayne's World

Fight Club. The whole false narrator plot twist didn't impress me.

reply

I didn't mind Fight Club aside from the fact that it stars my two least favorite actors in the whole world.

I liked the premise, the supporting cast was OK but I really really hate Pitt and Norton. Se7en was better.

reply

Forest Gump
Cast Away
The Shining
Fight Club
Dances with Wolves
Braveheart
Rainman
Gangs of New York
Gone With the Wind (love the book though)
