My first (and last) car auction. I was 22. I got punked by a shill. Dude canceled his last bid (I wouldn't bid higher.) Auctioneer says "SOLD" to me at dude's canceled bid. A ha! I caught him! "Hey I only bid $x dollars." Sold to me at my last bid price. I thought I was so sharp... I should have demanded bid start over and dude arrested... which I didn't realize until later that evening...
The thing that still pisses me off is that I went with my dad who had gone to auctions all the time.
I'm not sure I understand this story. Do you feel you overpaid? Or do you think the other bidder was bogus?
