I'll say this though: If yours is the Black Album and it's the only Metallica album you have ever liked or heard, you're not a real Metallica or metal fan for that matter.
...And Justice for All. Riffs harder than anything else they ever did, and is the most matured sounding of their first four. Not a single moment that doesnt get the head banging. Their first four are all excellent, and Load is sadly underrated.

The drum work and guitar are so aggressive it's nearly impossible not to speed and beat up your car while listening
I'll always favor Iron Maiden but Metallica is in the top five along with Sabbath, Priest and probably Dio
Ride the Lightning because the album kicks ass and it is their most consistent album, I even like the underrated "Escape"

Master of Puppets. Pure genius. ...And Justice For All is a close 2nd though.
I do love the Black album as well though, even though I get why people turned against Metallica with that album. Very polished and made for the mainstream. But damn, "Sad But True" is one of the heaviest riffs I've ever heard. I fucking love that song! I can't dislike The Black Album, no matter how many people want me to.
But pure Metallica is definitely Kill 'Em All to Justice.
I hate Metallica. Mainly because Kirk Hammett (sp?) is a total hack guitarist who ruins songs. Awful sense (absence) of melody, terrible, warbley vibrato and someone PLEASE take that sodding wah pedal away from him.
