Have you ever felt awkward using a gift certificate?

Normally, no, but I have one for well over a $100 to a small boutique food shop and I can tell they're getting sick of me lol.

reply

just spend it all at once.

reply

Thought about it, buts its mostly perishable goods.

reply

what did you get so far ??

reply

Fresh handmade pasta, olives and cured meat.

reply

AND just like that we're all hungry!

reply

Sue them for $1 million.

reply

Its too delicious.

reply

No. Why would I? Believe me, they’re not so sick of you that they will cash out the balance of the gift card.

reply

No, never
I have a complete aversion to coupons though...I just never use them

reply

Ya, I've never bothered with cut out coupons, but do scan my store card to get discounts.

reply

I don't use those ether...stupid, I know:/
But I'm always polite to the cashiers and they will often scan the store's card for me at places I frequent👍

reply

Reward cards are an outdated relic of the past. I only keep mine for when I use the self checkout.

reply

They made money selling the gift card. It sounds like you are getting poor customer service. Find a manager and tell him/her that s/he has “a coaching opportunity.” That’s much more appreciated than just bitching. They will love you for life.

reply

Honestly, I think its just me being self conscious. Its such a small little place, I deal with the same people each time.

reply

Okay, but someone who like or loves you gave you that gift, so enjoy. If it helps, I worked in retail per se for 15 years, and neither I nor my colleagues had any problems with selling to a gift certificate. If we were on commission, we got full commission, as with any other form of payment. The schmuck who sold the gift card, however, didn’t even get credit toward his/her sales quota, let alone commission! You didn’t buy the gift card, so they should all love you.

reply

A gift certificate is the equivalent of cash, so absolutely no way would I feel awkward.
