New Consent Condom

What do you think?

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/10/health/condom-consent-four-hands-trnd/index.html

I see some people have criticised the new product online because it is being falsely marketed as a tool to prevent rape, but whilst it won't stop violent predators from attacking, mostly women, it may help to reduce reckless, as opposed to malicious, instances of rape, where a rape occurs because of a failure in communication between parties. It may also prompt a man to take more and clearer steps to ascertain consent before proceeding with sexual conduct.

Like I say, it won't prevent malicious predators, but it may reduce reckless sexual conduct whereby a man misguidedly thinks another party has consented.

I agree Malko

Can we all agree to have a 'rape post free' day tomorrow?

Damn...

Can we all agree to have a 'rape post free' day tomorrow?
I don't understand.

reply

Weird posters and some odd posts of late is all Malko

reply

We need to have these discussions ShogunofYonkers, hopefully so we can all get to a place where we in fact reclaim sex from the rapists and predators, who, it should be stressed, are in the minority.

Malicious rapists are not the ones being deterred from having sex. They don't give a damn about consent and how their partners feel. But many people who do enjoy and like sex are in a awkward place and are not engaging in sex all that much because ultimately they're, quite understandably, insecure and worried about making mistakes.

This is also why I'm afraid I don't understand all the current preoccupation with incels. I'm not defending the type of sad pathetic scumbags who take to male-only chat rooms to demonise and discuss hateful violent things about women.

But ultimately, I'd still say that there are far worse men out there than incels. Because if they're incels that means they're literally not having sex, which also means they're not rapists, they're not sexually abusing children, they're not bigamists or polygamists, they're not serial monogamists, and they're not paying for sex/soliciting prostitutes.

And yet it's ironic that we demonise the men who are insecure and worried about sex more than we demonise the men who simply don't give a shit and are in the process of abusing women, girls, and, occasionally, men and boys.

Impossible with said poster!🥴 All depressing, bigotry, etc., etc., is his mantra. Damn...surely that soapbox needs some reinforcement by now. It has to be getting weak...please say it’s so.🙇‍♀️🤕

reply

[deleted]

Huh? Say what? “You talkin’ to me?” “You can’t handle the truth!” “Never hate your enemies. It affects your judgement.” As far as your threat goes....gotta find me first!😉

reply

C'mon, nobody is getting 'strung up by the entrails' here Malko
It's the internet, not ancient Rome

reply

That screen shot will come in handy!

reply

I see you've made a complaint (and as a consequence I've now had a private warning from a mod).

And yet, you attacked me first, and all I did is respond with a post explaining that other people are far harsher and more hostile to you and what you represent than I am.

I wasn't saying that I'd want to string you up by your entrails. I was saying heed my warnings because there are others out there who would like to see your type strung up.

So, by all means, keep that screenshot, but I stand by what I said. I wasn't being abusive, despite what you and the mod might think. I was being helpful.

By the way, and with all due respect, you need to think and try to understand what you're replying to before you press 'add reply'.

reply

Oh good grief! It’s boo-hoo, woe is me all the time with you isn’t it?

reply

Not at all.

I'm not the one getting the wrong end of the stick, acting like I've been mortally offended, and crying off to teacher to complain that the bad boy upset me.

reply

And yet, you seem to be the one who is a whisker away from having their account deleted. Wonder why that is?

reply

The mods don't always display the wisdom of Solomon.

reply

I sort of like you Malko and I don't want you to suffer the same fate as the OrsonWelles guy a few weeks ago.

reply

Thanks.

What happened? Why was his account terminated?

reply

banned

reply

How comes?

reply

You were here the same time as he was. You must remember him.

reply

Sure, but I don't know what he did to get banned.

reply

OK, Malko, let it drop. I don’t know what other boards you post on and if you’ve had trouble with the Mods, but I will defend our Mods. They are fair in their judgements. FYI, they are quite lenient. As I wrote I didn’t, to use your words, “go crying off to teacher to complain”. Apparently you stepped over the proverbial line in their rule book. Why insult them when it was you who didn’t “display the wisdom of Solomon”? You may be skating on thin ice. Just sayin’

reply

I don't believe the mods are that petty.

Once again, mild criticism isn't abuse. I hope, and trust, that the mods can make the distinction.

reply

I apologize for being rude to you. It was wrong of me.

reply

You're lying. The mods protect you from criticism ya suck up.

reply

I get this after defending your screen name...oh well...live and learn. Now where is that Ignore button? Found it!

reply

LOL!

Thank you for not putting me on 'Ignore', yet...

And I know we'll disagree on this one, but I knew this guy was a wrong'un from his username, although it's kind of sweet that he seems to think I'm his buddy.

reply

I had to unignore him to read your reply...darn it!😡 This is the problem here. When you Ignore someone it blocks others who reply to the discussion. I received the notice you had replied to me, but couldn’t open it. BTW, never will I put you on Ignore....I may just possibly “ignore” you.😉

reply

FYI, I did not make a complaint to the Mods. I would not have replied in jest to you if I had. I thought you had deleted the reply after Shoggie somewhat chastised you. And I haven’t attacked you! Good Grief! I’ve been attempting without success to get you out of the Kumbaya mode. Most of us are fully aware of the hateful rhetoric spewed from all sides of the political spectrum. We see it everyday on the news, therefore MovieChat is an escape for us.

I’m beginning to skip over your OP’s as they are the same day after day. Try engaging us with different topics; too numerous to mention, but albeit not political or socially engineering. Try it. I’m sure when you get in sync with most of us you will enjoy MovieChat’s General Discussion board much more. BTW, there is a Political board. Also, a Trump board where you can voice your disdain for him.

reply

Okay. Thank you for your post. I'll take your word that you did not make a complaint. The 'screenshot' thing was a bit odd though, simply because I don't deny what I said, nor do I even feel particularly bad about it. I'm sorry if my language was a bit OTT, but it wasn't intended to be some sort of threat or wish. I was simply saying that there are those who feel much stronger about things than I do, and so it's worth understanding different POVs if only for your own wellbeing.

reply

kspkap attacked me. My response to him wasn't meant in any form of hostility or animus.

My reference to getting strung up by his entrails was in fact a considerate warning. He'd be well-advised to reasonably consider my posts, because I am a moderate, albeit one who disagrees with kspkap's politics. However, there are many people who are on my side of the political spectrum who are nowhere near as reasonable and peaceful as I am. kspkap needs to moderate his own behaviour because he may end up falling foul of them if he doesn't consider my friendly advice.

I'm his buddy here.

PS: If my account ends up deleted within the next few hours/days, you know who to blame. kspkap and Moderator 3.

reply

While I don't consider it a threat it seemed harsh and dramatic

btw kspkap is a woman not a man;)

reply

Man or woman, I wasn't making a threat or even suggesting what I'd like to see done to them.

I am a peaceful person. I hate violence.

But I know violence and hate exists, and whilst my words were hyperbolic, they weren't too far from the truth. There are people out there who would take violent exception to kspkap's world view. I am simply warning them.

Not sure why that merits a moderator warning, a post deletion, kspkap's offence, or them threatening to use a screencap of the 'offending' post against me, especially since kspkap was rude to me.

reply

Did you report him?

reply

I don't report

reply

And again, you keep rubbing people up the wrong way, then wonder why they act like they’ve been rubbed up the wrong way.

reply

He's here to discuss. You're not. You should be banned, but you're a bigger crybaby and the mods seem to like that.

reply

Booooorrrrr(yawn)iiinnnngggg!

reply

Interesting movie topic. In fact, you've peppered this thread chock full of movie topics. Kudos! 👍

I think you should be a mod here. After only a few days of being on the site, you know so much about the posters, the mods, and so forth.

Where are your shoes?

reply

Lol, this is the stupidest product invented. I had to check it was not a fake news site.

How does rape occur due to a failure in communication? No, means no. Even after opening a condom and a change of mind, no still means no.

How is it going to stand up in court? We opened a 4-handed condom box so I must be innocent if rape? So this product is more likely to protect a rapist than protect the victim.

Stupid product, have to be naive to think this is a good idea.

reply

No-one is saying it is for the benefit of the court, but surely if a couple decide to open a condom packet together, both individuals are consenting to having sex.

Now, of course an individual can change their mind during sexual intercourse. If a person says 'I want to stop' or words to that effect during the course of sex, and the other individual involved continues, they are committing rape, but as far as initiating the process, why would anyone agree to open the product unless they were indicating consent?

If someone opened the product in conjunction with another individual and said 'I don't want sex', then of course it's also clear that proceeding with sex constitutes rape, but once again, why would anyone choose to open the product if they didn't want sex?

My understanding about the product is that it helps a couple make it clear to one another that they are both agreeing to have sex, so it's basically a guide to help alleviate any doubts or ambiguity. It's not supposed to be a legal instrument for the purpose of one party or the other relying on in court.

But anything that helps a couple give clear unequivocal signs that they wish to proceed with sex is surely a good thing. Or should we simply design products with bad people in mind, rather than those decent individuals who like having consensual sex?

Bear in mind that sexual insecurity is clearly a problem when we now have a quarter of Millennials believing that simply asking a person on a date constitutes sexual harassment.

reply

He's right. These sorts of things have already been tried by men as an insurance policy and they don't hold up in court.

reply

What if there are two rapists?

reply

This product doesn't stop rape, at least not of a malicious type. But it could potentially end many misunderstandings and prompt more men to think carefully about consent before engaging in sex.

Some people are complaining that because it doesn't stop sexual predators it must be a worthless product/concept, but I'd argue that all forms of rape are bad (duh! it's rape), including what one might describe as 'reckless' rape where a man mistakenly believes his partner is consenting, or doesn't take any reasonable steps to ascertain that consent.

Are we going to pretend that the victims of those types of rapes don't count? That doesn't seem very feminist of the people complaining here.

reply

I'm only going to say this once, and I'm going to say it to the general online population, because this is an issue I've seen discussed in many places and not rationally:

Anyone who backs away from sexual encounters because of the fear of false accusations of rape is projecting their own self-esteem issues onto other people. If a person is interested in someone and backs away because they are afraid they will accuse one of rape, what is really going is that they don't believe that anyone could possibly find them attractive, that any approach will end in rejection sooner or later, and that even sexual success will result in rejection and attacks after the fact. Because the feeling that nobody could possibly want to have sex with one is there all the time, poisoning the joy of the encounter or any happiness after the fact, and any chance of a relationship.

Anyone who suffers from such feelings ought to be discussing them with a therapist rather than trying to find anti-accusation armor. Those feelings are self-defeating to the point of ruining a person's life, please be aware that there is help available. That is all, I will not respond.

reply

That's ridiculous. Women accuse men of rape for all sorts of reasons like revenge.

reply

Not sure if this applies to me, but I'm not scared of false accusations.

I doubt I'll ever put myself in a position where I'll be subject to a false accusation because whenever I engage in sex I make 100% sure my partner is 100% up for it, so to speak (sorry, I know that doesn't sound very romantic - those are not the terms I use in the bedroom).

Still, fear of committing sexual harassment is a very real thing. According to research about a quarter of Millennials believe that asking a woman for a date constitutes harassment.

And for what it's worth, I like sex, I consider myself to be attractive, and I trust that, at least, some women agree. That said, I cannot assume that all women want to have sex with me, and, not being a mind-reader, I cannot be sure without asking/ascertaining which ones are interested. I've been in situations where I've discovered that women who I thought disliked me actually found me attractive, and where women who I (privately) assumed were flirting with me did not.

There should be a tool that you can put inside the vagina that is attached to her nervous system so it can detect when she is starting to resist. When it happens an alarm goes off and a timer starts to count down from 10 seconds. When it goes to zero it locks around the penis and cuts it off if he hasn't pulled out.

reply

Works for me!👏🏻 Brilliant idea! “Necessity is the mother of invention!”💁‍♀️

reply

Thanks. Necessity is the key for sure :-)

reply

Would there be a big digital countdown clock, like they have in the Bond films?

reply

The girl could wear some type of visible timer on her wrist i suppose.

reply

A race against time then (sorry to make a joke about it but....)

reply

No problem :-)

reply

There also has to be some kind of warning attachment to the guy, who lets him know when her nervous system is starting to resist. Otherwise, no fair! 😀

reply

Yeah, i was thinking some sort of sound based signal, i think straight sex would become a thing of the past otherwise. We wouldn't dare it XD

reply

This would work because if it’s rape other sex acts would be demanded from the rapist (s).

https://dailypost.ng/2017/08/26/17-year-old-girl-bites-off-penis-rapists/

Works for me!

reply

Well, i guess there could be one for the butt as well. The mouth already has a natural defence mechanism as the article proves.

reply

The man should pull-out before the woman starts to resist. If she's already resisting, something is already wrong.

reply

Agree.

reply

Ain’t it grand?🥴 Some arseholes will do anything to get pleasured. Serves him right, but guess who is most likely footing the bill for reconstruction? They should have just finished the mummification followed by putting him in a sarcophagus. I doubt he would be missed.

Trying to force a freaking pitbull to do anything against it's will wether it's sexual or not has to automatically place you at the single digits on the IQ list.

It occurs more often than most people know. The above guy got his just rewards. 😬

Hopefully he questioned his life choices while laying there.
