Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

So what do we think of this song NOW? It was pretty big back in the day.

reply

Big ?? Where ??

reply

Everywhere except Canada apparently.

Chris Rock even did a parody.

reply

he's just talking - there's no there there.

reply

Be honest, Mitch, have you really been in the Champagne Room??

reply

I have been in a VIP room.

reply

Next time, buy ME some champagne.

reply

I wasn't interested in any champagne

reply

We'll see where it goes from there.

reply

you know what a vip room is right ?

reply

It's where I put my red heels and whip to good use.

reply

close enough 🙂🙂🙂🙂

reply

It's a bit of a novelty record, but I liked it at the time. And as an adult the words now resonate with me to a greater degree.

reply

I loved it back then

reply

The CORRECT phrase is “back in the old days,” unless you are a ghetto-dweller, ignorant, or both.

reply

It's in the Cambridge dictionary, but what do I know. I'm just an ignorant ghetto-dweller, aite?!👍

reply

you might make it to his ever expanding ignore list.😊😊😊

reply

I was in high school when this song came out. Now that I'm in my late thirties I feel like a lot of what he says is accurate.

reply

I still love it. But, until now, I didn't know that was Baz Luhrmann!

reply

Yes, it was his project (apparently he released a whole album). The voice is somebody else, though.

reply

When I first heard this as a teenager the speaker reminded me of Michael Douglas. I knew it wasn't him, but for whatever reason that's who he reminded me of.

reply

Oh, oh, I thought you were saying it was his voice. Still, I didn't know he was behind it. Or that there was an entire album.

reply

It always comes up on my shuffle on Spotify. I make a point to not click it off. It's pertty humbling!

Luhrmann was 37 when he dispensed these fatherly advices. How old do we all feel now?

I stand corrected. Had I known that, I would of course have written "Luhrmann was 37 when he dispensed these motherly advices. How old do we all feel now?".

Still, no one has answered yet.
