Member Trending Section [Thread Closed]

So along with suggesting a search bar for the general discussion board and all other boards on this site, the site should also include a pending history list of members (who visit the site and also comment on certain boards).

Think of it this way. If we come on here and we see someone comment on a specific section, it will drive more traffic or at least more than it would, than if we never knew individuals were commenting in that section. It would pretty much eliminate blind spots on this website.

Ex: member "_______" commented in the "Food" section
member "________" commented in the "Politics" section

IMDb had a solution to that. Of course, whoever was the owner of that post, would be disappointed. Why? Because merely than limiting the number of replying or the amount of threads, they would just delete them. I think the time cap was like more than a year?

reply

There's another solution, just do like Reddit.

When there are too many replies, you have to click a link to resume the discussion on another page.

reply

awww...I like looking at all potential replies. It is more of a chance that my reply to any or all replies will stimulate a discussion and that is what we want, no?

reply

it's not by default, only when an answer become unreadable.
Like 9 said, when you have to read a character at a time (which is just awful).

reply

Loading pages would be difficult for some. Facebook has that when a post is too long in a group.

reply

Would definitely want to see what that would look like.

reply

I agree with all of this. But Jim needs time to make changes. Let him live his life. He isn't our slave working 24/7 on our whims and wishes.

reply

reply

He isn't our slave?

:/

Oh shucks....

reply

He ended up making those changes; however, now we need a search bar!

reply

And again, if you want it so bad, YOU figure it all out and present the finished product to Jim.

reply

I agree, we need pages.

reply

I agree for the index page, it's time for pagination. if the index has 1000 threads, it will eventually get slow to load all of them.
What do you think about 50 per page?

reply

Now that we have this, we should have a search bar at the topic to look for specific threads.

reply

yes

reply

Any elaboration on how we could make this better and more appealing to be installed?

reply

yeah... YOU figure it out, design it, do a program, come up with instructions on installing it, and then present it to Jim, arvin.

reply

Thoughts?

reply

See above

reply

Croft?

reply

I'm here,arvin...I was focused on something else...well,it's kinda annoying in a way.I do a search for what i'm interest and give me multiple results, many uselles. It should be only for the specific subject that you search for...hope it makes sense🤔

reply

What do you mean by specific subject?

reply

I'll give an example,arvin...I always look for Resident Evil The Final Chapter...in hoping that the disscusion continues, but no...anyway made the search and give me...I think at least 6 results, many uselles.

reply

Well, we could always make it to where you type in a letter and it gives you options. If it was very specific, you would have to type it in exactly and even then it may not even come up.

reply

Actually,arvin...for me it works this way, too.I only tipe a letter and automatically give me options...maybe it records my previous search...I think🤔

reply

On the main search bar?

reply

Yes,arvin...on main search bar.

reply

It does not do that for me. Weird.

Do you have a pop up blocker activated?

reply

No,Arvin...I use a smartphone,don't have a computer...maybe that's why is working for me🤔

reply

Wow, I actually am pretty ignorant. I thought people in Romania were so poor that they were not up to date with current technology. I apologize Croft.

Yes, I, too, have a smart phone; however, I am unable to log into this site for some reason.

reply

No need to apologize,arvin...well,yes in some parts like in north-east,we are poor, but I learned to never give up,no matter the odds...I have an xbox one,so this tell the exact same thing...anyway,it's weird, the same thing is hapening to me,also, when I want to log on themoviedatabase🤔

reply

Well, it shows you are a very hard worker croft. I must say that it is inspiring to know you hold down a job AND work on a farm. I would find it tough to do hard labor after a job. I guess the reward of playing Tomb Raider is earned! Many gamers do not do squat and have a stigma, in the U.S., of not doing anything. They mostly live off their parents and do nothing to contribute. You are changing that stigma.

reply

Why,thank you!arvin, well,I must say that we have those kind if kids here,too...but i'm not like the others.I do work hard on my farm and my job...but in my spare time that I have,i'm spending with Lara,it's quite relaxing.

reply

We all need to unwind. I guess it does feel better when you do, after a hard day's work.

reply

I don't know the others,arvin...but for me being with Lara,after I end the day...that is what I call relaxing.Maybe i'm not good with movies,but I know a few.

reply

Hey, that is just the way you choose to unwind. I mean you could be doing more illegal and dangerous things.

reply

No,arvin...why would I do that?it's pointless,for me.It's way more fun with Lara,those puzzles,solving them,it 's good for the mind,too.

reply

Stimulating the mind is definitely a plus. Keeps the mind in top shape. you have that mind and body thing down.

reply

Well...I don't like to spoil myself,arvin...but yes,i'm in good shape.

reply

You're not spoiling, you are living a balanced life and doing well for yourself! I wrote that I was inspired!

reply

Inspiration,arvin...well sometimes I need some of that when i'm solving those puzzles.

reply

Is the game a first player shooter game or is it like Tetris?

reply

No...arvin...tetris!?sorry,i'm a bit surprised...it's a third person game, that means you can see the character...I hate the first person sistem. It's a perfect and beautiful combination between puzzles and action.

reply

So it is a third person shooter game? The puzzles are the missions right?

reply

Yes,Arvin...you got it,it's a third person shooter, but the puzzles are part of the game, you have to solve them in order to advance in the game. The missions sistem was put in rise of the tomb raider, for the first time.Basically, you help other people in the game.

reply

Oh, so these are puzzles like opening doors and such. I guess it was a prerequisite to missions.

reply

Not only to open doors, arvin. There are enviromental puzzles too.

reply

What puzzles are in the environment? Like if you solve one, what does it do?

reply

Oh,Arvin...how can I explain to you in order to understand...let's see...in tomb raider anniversary, first level: Peru....you have to enter in a hidden temple that is clever hidden behind a waterfall...it's hard to explain in words...ok...the sistem that openes that door is visible, but you have to explore in order to find the items in order to activate that sistem.

reply

Oh. It's like an explorer game. So like these objects are like traps or they hold some kind of power to open doors and find hidden places.

Pretty cool!

reply

Yes,arvin...there are some supernatural elements involved, too.

reply

[deleted]

Definitely would like to see a search bar for each of the sections like the new one for this site. Absolutely amazing!

reply

Are you EVER freakin' happy, arvin, or do sit up at night thinking of stuff to bitch about?

reply

Hahaha...sorry.

reply

Why apologize for laughing, croft? It's true, isn't it?

reply

It's true,napsdufroid...it was the way you said it that made me laugh.😉

reply

Ideas are being suggested! What side will you be on?

reply

It's hard to choose...

reply

What would Lara say?

reply

"It doesn't matter what choices he would've made.I have to make my own..."

Lara Croft - rise of the tomb raider

reply

And so what what do you think she would say? I am assuming the "he" is referring to you?

reply

I will explain her words to you,arvin...don't give up on your ideas,no matter what others say against it.

reply

That is quite a line.

I definitely agree with that!

reply

And she has many more,arvin...

reply

Such as?

reply

Depends on the subject,arvin...many of her lines are...sarcastic and not many people can understand that sometimes is a joke.

reply

The only thing I dislike about sarcasm are the ones that are so sarcastic that they are actually really rude and then the person is just like "Oh, it was just sarcasm." It clearly was not!

reply

Oh,well...it's not a party until something gets broken😉

reply

Oh..that's a good one!
