Diplomatic Expert John Mearsheimer says no way Trump would/could end Ukraine war ...

This is a part of a very fascinating exchange on Ukraine with diplomatic expert John Mearsheimer.

What the US public thinks doesn't matter:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1217

The number of doubters in the Ukraine war is constantly growing"
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1239

An argument is being made the Republicans are going soft on Ukraine:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1257

They think that if Trump is elected he will pull the plug on Ukraine:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1265

Trump will not pull the plug on Ukraine, no matter what he says:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1273

The US is backing Ukraine to the hilt and will not stop.
It is an existential issue for the USA, as it is for Russia.
Without US support, Ukraine will collapse.
Russia would win a huge victory and the US would lose massive face.
No American leader Biden/Trump/?? will allow that to happen.
Too much Russophobia in the US for people to give up.
China would see the US as a "Paper Tiger".
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1281

Trump talks a good game, but he is lying again.
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1338

Note that Trump said all kinds of stuff about being friends with Putin.
Nothing Trump said happened.
Trump was the one who started arming the Ukrainians
( sent $5 billion in weapons to Ukraine )
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1351

Obama did not arm the Ukrainians:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1384

Trump was as tough against Russians as any other President:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1394

Gullible Americans swallowed the US demonizing Russia and Putin as Satan.
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1459

The West has brilliantly propagandized this war:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1478

It was clearly propaganda responsible for this war.
Discussion limited to Putin's military response, and ignore the past:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1514

( we talk about censorship in media, and propaganda, but Ukraine is king in that regard, and no one seems to know or say anything about it except the real experts on the subject ... and Robert Kennedy Jr. )

This is an outstanding case of anti-Russian propaganda:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1534

Since no "Pearl Harbor" in WWI the propaganda effort was parallel:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1571

Massive effort to portray Russia in negative light and silence truth tellers:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1612

The real problem Trump or any other negotiator would have to try to
"make a deal" between Zelensky and Putin is that there is no deal to
be made
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1857

Reason are:
Russians are not going to leave themselves vulnerable WRT terrority.
Russians demand Ukraine to be neutral.
If Ukrainians get territory back, they are still at war with their own citizens.
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=1894

No deal also because Russia knows now the US/West cannot be trusted:
https://youtu.be/qkLh-4zWxO0?t=2008

The Nationalistic Right runs Ukraine by default.

reply

Russia is so concerned about their borders that they forgot to leave any troops defending Belgorod, and a small team of Russian rebels burst in.

reply

Mearsheimer's a trip.

It wouldn't have started.

Minor incursions have been approved by Joe.

I have also heard that Joe will end the war on July 4. Thats good to hear.

Full context:

On Wednesday, Biden had predicted Russia would invade Ukraine, but suggested there was a split among NATO members about how to respond if Moscow took action that stopped short of sending its troops across the border — something Biden referred to as a "minor incursion." He said:

"I think what you're going to see is that Russia will be held accountable if it invades. And it depends on what it does. It's one thing if it's a minor incursion and then we end up having a fight about what to do and not do."

They also clarified:

Shortly after Biden wrapped up his press conference, his press secretary Jen Psaki issued a statement trying to explain what he meant:

"If any Russian military forces move across the Ukrainian border, that's a renewed invasion, and it will be met with a swift, severe, and united response from the United States and our allies."

She said that "aggression short of military action" like cyberattacks and paramilitary hits "will be met with a decisive, reciprocal, and united response."

But I know the truth has never stopped you.

reply

Right. Does the context not explain it? And nowhere in that quote does it remotely even justify a "minor incursion".

And you understand that it was rolled back anyway?

If Biden truly didn't give a fuck, he'd have stopped helping Ukraine a long time ago.

> On Wednesday, Biden had predicted Russia would invade Ukraine,

Do you know why Biden could appear to be a magical mind-reader?

Hint:
Search for this on Google:
"In Donetsk region, between the evenings of 18 and 20 February, the SMM recorded 2,158 ceasefire violations, including 1,100 explosions. In the previous reporting period, it recorded 591 ceasefire violations in the region."

reply

Because the world could see the obvious Russian troop build up lmao

reply

How little you know and what a total lack of clue you seem to have.

reply

Dude, it was known for months that Russia likely planned to invade due to the obvious troop buildup. Skirmishes in the Donbass intensifying would have little to do with it.

reply

The troops were building up because the shelling from Ukraine was doubling every few days ... they were picking the fight because they knew Russia would have to attack.

There is numerical evidence that Russia went in to protect the people of Donetsk, and still you don't seem to be able to understand it, or will always find some way to deny it. If Russia was going to take over Ukraine it would not have attacked an 800K Ukrainian military less then 200K soldiers.

Yes, I know why the Russians claim they went in. They were building up for longer than the brief intensification of the Donbass conflict in February 2022.

They tried to decapitate the Ukrainian regime on the belief that the Ukrainian government would flee, and that the Ukrainian army would surrender and/or defect. It didn't happen.
