I like the Illumination movies, but I understand what you mean; some of their films seem to have the same formula and it feels like they don't take many risks. My personal favorite is the first Despicable Me, I thought all the sequels were only okay. I was concerned too that the toads were going to be too much like the Minions. Now that we have trailers and clips from the movie, I don't think that will be the case, and I'm hopeful they aren't going to put them front and center, and just have them in supporting roles (besides the main Toad). I can see that viewpoint judging from the trailer about them making Princess Peach more of a star then Mario. But I have a feeling that at some part of the film, she probably will get kidnapped or taken off screen, and we will see Mario as he learns to become a hero and save everyone. I like that Peach is getting more screentime, but I bet they are being misleading with the trailer and maybe she and Toad only guide Mario in the first half. I forgot they had that ghost of Billy Loomis in 5; yeah that was pretty silly. I saw the teaser trailer and am excited to see it! Like you said, I'm glad they are trying something different, at least with the location and characters. I wonder how it will play out, kind of reminds me of Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan. I don't really watch Scream for the blood factor (although they had some clever kills in past movies) so I'm curious to see how graphic this one will get. I don't know what is wrong with you APRIL-151-CT, but you have some nerve making fun of me, trying to get people to bully me, then post private messages between two people and try to slander me. Whether it was a misunderstanding or not, I would never do this to someone else, it's disgusting. I deleted my topic about the Terminator movies and sent you a few messages privately; if you felt I was being unfair or not wanting to receive anything from me, then you could have let the moderators know. Instead you decided to try and hurt me as much as possible. Also shame on some of the others in this topic for being nasty to me. Thank you to those who stuck up for me. I am going to take the high road. I am letting you know this is uncalled for and I have contacted the moderators. I am not going to read or reply to anything else on this topic. It is NOT okay to do this to another person. Wow, that's cool you were able to catch up! I'm sure it was fun revisiting them. It looks like your rankings are pretty similar to mine. I agree with what you said: I like when John's character is more front and center in the story. I think that's why 2 and 3 are so good, besides having great traps and a better story. The twists in 2 were awesome back then, and I remember watching it in the theater, and when they revealed the bathroom from Saw 1 Iremember everyone in the theater went crazy. I know what you mean about Saw 3; I liked Jeff's character a lot and its definitely one of the better stories. Saw 4 is tough for me because on one hand I thought it had one of the greatest twists in all the movies (the time twist, which I never saw coming). It also had traps i thought were really good like the see no evil, speak no evil trap, but then it has ones I thought were crappy like the child abuser guy in the hotel (the trap just seemed kinda lame). While some scenes were really interesting like the autopsy and John's past, I really hated how they edited the film, with the cutaways or whatever it's called. I'm curious what you thought of this, but for me Saw 5's side story with the characters stuck in the sewer line / bunker thing were easily my least favorite group out of any movie. They just weren't interesting at all, and I thought almost all of their traps weren't good. The only traps I thought were cool were the other ones; the water box and the glass coffin. I still think 5 is okay, just slower paced, but it is not my favorite. Thanks for sharing your thoughts I enjoyed reading them. Also sorry if my text on here is squished, I'm still kind of new to posting here and I'm not sure how to fix this. It's been a long time but I think the manga (Japanese comic) of Akira that the movie is based on answers more of the details and explores some of the story further. That's what I recall from reading it back then anyway. It's funny, the first time I saw Mullholand Drive I actually disliked it. I was coming off of Twin Peaks and I thought the story would be a little easier to follow like that TV show. Years later I finally rewatched Mulholland Drive and I actually enjoyed it way more. It is difficult to understand like some of his other stuff, but I think a lot of it is open to interpretation. I personally love that dream like quality of the film, but I also get it's not for everyone. That's really cool, I've been trying to watch movies I've never seen before that came out awhile ago. What did you think of Akira and Mullholand Drive? I love Japanese anime but haven't seen Akira in many years. I need to watch it again to see what I think! I enjoy David Lynch stuff and Mullholand Drive is one of my favorites from him. The diner scene is one of the scariest moments I've ever watched in a movie. If you enjoyed this film check out Lost Highway, I like it just as much as Muholland Drive! I consider myself a decent driver, and honestly the hardest part about driving in those conditions is the people around you. There is a lot of snow and blizzards where I live in winter time, and once in awhile you'll have people trying to tailgate you and drive erratically. One time there was a driver ahead of me who wanted to rush past the other car in front of them, in a blizzard with black ice everywhere. The person sped past that other car, then immediately skidded off to the side and landed in a snow bank. Thankfully most people seem to have common sense when driving in bad weather, but I've seen crazy stuff. Hello! Welcome to the forum! I am fairly new still but Moviechat has a nice forum here and everyone is really friendly. I'm not sure if I could convince you or if you are even right or wrong. I eat meat, but I've known both men and women who were very healthy and fit, who were meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. I'm not sure if there is a perfect diet. I understand some people take up that lifestyle because they are against the abuse of farm animals. I do admire that and I wish I could say I was that strong to control my appetite, but I love the taste of meat and for me it's hard to give that up. View all replies >
