Surprised at the low rating

I was in the mood to watch a found footage type film that I haven't seen before. Some of my favorites I've seen are movies like The Blair Witch Project, Lake Mungo and Creep. After finishing Amber Alert, I had mixed feelings about it but overall it was an enjoyable movie.

I liked that it concentrated on only a couple characters, and all of them felt realistic enough where you could see them acting as they did in a scenario like this. Some of the negative reviews on IMDB state they couldn't stand the female lead. I wouldn't go that far, but I understand that she can come off as irritating at certain points of the film.

The atmosphere is a big thing I look for in these types of movies (for me to get immersed, especially if its suppose to be scary or thrilling), and this did it for me. The car scenes were tense once it got going, and the last 20 minutes are pretty creepy. The movie does have a low budget but I never thought it hurt the production while watching.

For anyone looking for a new movie in this genre, I'd reccomend seeing Amber Alert. It's not very long, and while it doesn't make my top list I thought it was a lot better than others I've seen for found footage.
