Even most actresses aren't as beautifully facially as she was, the woman won the looks lottery and then threw it away for food and phony body positivity. She's massive now. Actually the film both in its picture quality, some of its fashion, theme and music are rather modern for an early 2000's movie. I was actually surprised at how undated it feels. This movie is visceral alight. You will feel as though you're right in it. I don't think a single movie has ever had this effect on me. Shenzi is from the cartoon original. Diversity and feminism did have something to do with expanding the character but also as I mentioned the behavior of Hyena's which the first film didn't get ''right''. Girls rule in Hyena society. Just happy to see Brenda again. Yes, oh my God. You weren't watching carefully. She pretended often not to like the meal or that it was cold so Precious would be the one forced to eat it. Mary overate but she made sure her daughter was fatter than her. Mary was a depressed person, depressed people can go through cycles of overeating and then not eating and lying around apathetically. No. The 1980's should be condemned not celebrated. Reaganomics.... Her self esteem sucked. But in real life she would have stayed with the Professor no question. This is the type of woman that gradually evolves into a drunk house wife. Don't mean to diss the character but it's fairly obvious of who she was becoming. He is Greek but I actually thought he was Middle Eastern. Sadly, he has no fanbase. Still liked him in ''Loser'' all those years ago. I thought she was awful in the Devil wears Prada - the first movie I ever saw her in. Just watched the Iron Lady and was in absolute awe, she was magnificent. The perfect portrayal of a capitalist she-demon. I like Dakato's personality and I think she gives a lot of energy to her performances. But sadly she didn't get her sisters looks. What the? She's the next Natalie Portman. She probably is just 5'8. Which sucks for her because they won't even let a person do runway work unless you're 5'11. Elle's acting is fine but with her looks she could have been a hugely successful model. A girl like Enid was not going to suicide - despite what the director hinted, the character didn't match up to doing this. She was going to ''use'' others. She might of not been very rich but she was certainly spoiled and her father allowed her to do anything she wanted. Take the scene where he brought up the idea of her checking out colleges very meekly afraid to offend her and she scoffed it off. She didn't respect her father at all. She didn't want to work, didn't want to go to school and saw the idea of living off of a man as an alternative (especially mid way and towards the end of the film). The friendship died with her best friend because the other girl became attune to exactly who she really was and who she was going to be. She didn't want to put up with a person like this. I was not even alive at the time of the film's release. Saw the movie a few years ago and all considered I knew it was from the early 90's and would appear ''dated''... but Jesus, was not expecting the cheesiness for such a serious subject matter. I agree with all you mentioned- also the silly hats he wore and the hair color changes, the both terrible spoken and non verbal acting from hanks. So much cheese. Even when he collapsed in court at the end there was an unintentional hilarity about it. What? even in her profile picture her eyes look as cold as a viper. Ronald Reagan was of Irish heritage, not a Jew. Margaret Thatcher was an Anglo Saxon - not a Jewess. Donald Trump is of central European heritage - not a drop of Jew blood. The Jews have been unfairly scapegoated for years. The people creating problems have been your standard WASPS. Don't believe it? look again. I think she has potential but needs a stylist and should stick to her natural color. No resentment for them. I got the ''I'm not into men'' vibe from her for years in interviews. It's just that Lesbians do have a harder time getting work.
