They are political and won by campaigning in the industry. Most of the voters don't even watch most of the movies. This has been noted many times. It's why women like Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence among mothers tolerated Harvey Weinstein and likely had relationships with him. Because he above others had the money and connections in the industry to win them Oscars and get them nominations. He's an awful actor. And the dude is an arrogant douche. Attack the Block was his best performance, but it's not exactly that required great range. h That's like asking why everyone didn't just target the bridge in Star Trek. It was comical. There would be certain scenes where they would be like "target the bridge" and you'd be left to ponder exactly why everyone didn't do that every time they were in battle. How a guy who looks like Adam Driver can get leading roles is beyond me. He's one of those ugly people that Lena Dunham tried to "normalize" on her show. John Boyega is just filling a quota in just about every movie he's in. Knows this and acts entitled to it. It made it clear that all the animals had died. That's the point. If that's the case, it seems like the entire story is pointless because the wife was right. Yes, but do you think Marianne would ever have run off from her family without a word, spent months living in sin with a man and then only contact them after she becomes pregnant and her lover takes off because she needs money and someone to take care of her? It's not like Willoughby showed up in Bath and seduced her then took off the next day. She actually left her caretaker to run away with him (knowing the consequences) and only contacted Brandon months later. As I said, much more similar to feckless Lydia Bennet than Marianne. And it seems especially egregious since she presumably would have been aware of what had happened with her mother by then and returned Brandon's care and support for her with such disgraceful and thoughtless actions. Not just the premarital sex, but disappearing for months without a word. Couldn't agree more. Awful episode all around. Examples: - The whole premise of the these women all staying in the town after the accident and not returning to their families. The town remaining this war for two years without a bunch of men showing up. All of them suddenly becoming steady gunfighters at the end. - The "heroine" is a white woman who married an Indian and had a half-breed kid. And this woman is the object of affection of both the main white characters. Such a woman would be a total outcast in society, no decent white man would make her a marriage offer in the Old West. - The lesbian relationship, even it becoming public. Of course one of the lesbians being these incredible butch bad ass who can outdraw and out shoot men. - Blackdom and Whitey and Louisa seemed shoehorned into the story to make the cast more diverse as was Alice's past. Just a few. It's a good question. Honestly, Jayne staying on Serenity after some of the decisions Mal makes does not fit with his character. He cost Jayne a lot of money. Given his characterization, he should have left the ship and looked for a more brutal crew. His background and goofiness at times does offset though. I think they should have given Jayne a military background like pretty much all mercenaries. Maybe having had him fight for the Alliance during the war. Doesn't make much sense that he wasn't drafted, wherever he was from. Jayne would beat the shit the living shit of Mal in a fight without suspension of disbelief in effect. Baldwin is Animal Mother. Season 3 was definitely the worst. Couldn't stand the French or Burgundy plots. I'd say the later half of Season 1 after Ferdinand and Isabel get together is the best of the series and overall season 1 is the best. I found season 2 a bit all over the place. The civil war and crusade in Granada was good, but I didn't like the forced romance between the Moor leader and the kidnapped girl or the Aragon stuff. The latter. The next season he cheated on Kimberly with Sydney. He cheated on her with Kimberly when they were married and then some random woman running a con who taped their affair when they got back together in the last season I believe. The explosion. 1st season was pretty boring IMO. 2nd and 3rd season were great. All the others sucked.
