No, you’re pretty much correct. Another demon was pissed that they were summoning Baphomet instead of them, so they broke up the party and killed everyone, sparing Sam. Total deus ex, but I’m fine with it. As random as anything else in the movie.
Yeah, he's the reason Sammy Jackson takes the case in the first place, and is the antagonist in the final showdown. We just spend the main part of the movie dealing with a different group of bad guys.
I guess the guy they call Gordito? But they spent more time focusing on the Brothers Watching Brothers guys.

Ha, thanks! Went back and looked--it's around the 36 minute mark--and can't for the life of me tell who most of them are supposed to be. Looks like Glenn in the center and obviously Herschel top right, but the other 3 are anyone's guess. Maybe Beth lower left?
