It is interesting. I always wonder about the people who are captured in some of those photos. We had a couple walking their dog when they took the photos of our area and I think it’s kind of weird to know every time someone looks up the address they’ll see that couple. Same with some of the cars on the street. I love Only Lovers Left Alive. I think it’s one of Jim Jarmusch’s best films. The cast is amazing and it’s definitely a strange movie. I liked it a lot, too. Great cast. Very funny. Thank you! I will definitely check it out. I remember loving this show when I was a kid. It must have been in reruns at sometime because I would not have seen it in 1970! I completely agree with you. She retired too early. She was a favorite of mine in the ‘80s, especially in Agnes of God. This post is exactly how I feel about George Hamilton. I’ve seen a few of his films and he wasn’t too memorable in most of those movies. This is the only time I’ve seen him in something “good”. It must be the direction from Vincent Minnelli that made the difference. I know George Hamilton as someone who is famous for being famous, so it’s nice to see him in this movie. Wade is horrible to everyone and everything. He doesn’t even love his son or his wife so it’s not too shocking to see his abhorrent behavior toward his dogs. It’s shocking that a genocide could become forgotten in less than a century. My father was a little boy during the war. We had books about the Holocaust. Some of our neighbors were WWII veterans. We learned about it at school. Many of the tv programs were devoted to teaching us about anti Semitic and racist behavior. It was everywhere. This ignorance will doom us. It’s excellent. It’s not an easy show to watch. It definitely doesn’t minimize the horrors of the time period. The actors are absolutely pitch perfect. I think the dialogue with Alana in the restaurant was from the movie, “Breezy”, starring William Holden. I’m not sure why they would change the name, either. Maybe the character was only inspired by William Holden. I’m hoping we can revive some of the threads of the individual episodes here on Movie Chat. I’ve missed the IMDb boards. I feel like we’ve lost a lot of interesting dialogue. Garret Dillahunt did such a fantastic job in both rôles! I love that movie, “Stars in My Crown.” Dean Stockwell was a wonderful actor. Is that for milk? I just finished watching this for the first time and I’m surprised I hadn’t heard more about it. Joan Crawford is wonderful but Sidney Greenstreet is the star of this film. He’s a delicious villain! Absolutely ruthless! All the supporting actors were excellent. This is a hidden gem for classic movie fans. Thank you, hownos! I always felt so sad about Godewey’s death. He was such a nice presence on MC. He was always friendly and kind in his comments. I’m so happy to hear he had a daughter and his girlfriend is doing well. Terrific news. Herbert Marshall is great favorite of mine, too. He doesn’t have much screen time in this but he does make a difference. I saw this was on TCM and forgot to record it. I’m sorry I missed it after reading your review. I thought the first two episodes are very promising. I hope it continues.
