She should have been a huge star.

She retired for a few years in 1995 to become a mother and stay at home with her kids. But for a time in the 80's she was damn good actress. She had the looks and talent to be star, but reading with interviews or quotes from her, I don't think she was ever that driven to want to be a star.

Her debut at 20 was in Alan Parker's Fame (1980). She had her first major role in Matt Dillon film called Tex in 1982. Her first starring role was in horror from the same year One Dark Night. But her breakthrough was in Psycho II (1983), which she had a great role in. Then followed the fantastic The Big Chill (1983) in which she probably stole the film. She then did Agnes in God (1985) with a wonderful performance alongside Jane Fonda. Probably her best performance as young nun. She did a film called Off Beat (1986), which is a lot better then 5.0 it has on IMDB. Have a soft spot for that film and Meg is adorable in it. Although she did miss out on a big part in Oscar winning film Amadeus at the time, cause of a leg injury. She would have been a bright spot on her C.V.

She did get to work with Milos Forman on Valmont (1989), which is a good film. She then starred in Jack Nicholson Directed follow up of Chinatown called The Two Jakes (1990). Her last two films were Body Snatchers (1993) and Sleep with Me (1994) neither are great. Although she did return to acting to star in the very good TV show Bomb Girls.

But she's one of those talents that you just think probably if she had that extra push in her could have been a big star. But overall she didn't have a bad career.

I saw some of those films. She always seemed to play reserved characters. Did she show range in other projects? It is a shame actresses who get cast mostly for their looks have such short careers. Only a few get beyond that, such as Charlize Theron who broke out of that mold when she played that serial killer.

Did you see her in "Body Snatchers" (1993)? I'd say check that one out if you want to see her vary from the demure type you know.

I've always liked her. Didn't know she was in Fame. First she arrived on my radar was in Agnes of God, and she was great in it.

I'll have to see if I can find Bomb Girls somewhere. Last thing I saw her in was Leaving Normal, with Christine Lahti (another favourite), and she was wonderful.

I love her, she never wanted to be a huge star or star or famous.

Loved her in Agnes Of G-d (1985) and The Girl In A Swing (1988) and the American television film In The Best Interest Of The Child (1990). Also stand-out in a short-lived tv series called Winnetka Road.

Also read her first book "Singing Songs", very hard depressing read.

I just got done watching The Big Chill for the first time. I had never even heard of Meg Tilly despite being a fan of her sister and she managed to capture my attention enough to look her up and see who she was.

Apparently she had a Chinese father and an Irish mother and that combination gave her her unique and beguiling look.

I also found an interview with her where she was talking about getting back into acting and about her role in War Machine. That was in 2017 and she hasn't appeared in anything since then. She had said that she was worried that she wouldn't be able to get roles since she had been away for so long. I wonder if her worries ended up being justified and that's why she doesn't appear to have anything else in development.

She was great in Psycho II.

Psycho II is a great film, a few of the scenes in it were so memorable to me, I reckon I hadn't seen it in 14 years yet the eye popping up at the eyehole peering into the bathroom and the shovel scene at the end are etched in my memory.

It's a shame Meg didn't have a big career. She was more than capable.

I completely agree with you. She retired too early. She was a favorite of mine in the ‘80s, especially in Agnes of God.

The Tilly sisters are awesome! Big fan of both Jennifer and Meg.
