Handbrake is pretty good. I'm a conservative and I think Lizzo is hot. Yes it should be. Not only that, but she should be stripped of all her ill gotten wealth and be drawn and quartered for playing a white racist on screen. English Bob is the essence of what this movie is about. Plus, Richard Harris practically steals the show and I appreciate every second that he is in the movie. No good deed goes unpunished. If the family is already independently wealthy, they should just pay him whatever amount they made off of "his" story and wash their hands of him. One bit of trivia regarding the Ferigno/Arnold rivalry that is not known is that they both auditioned for the coveted role of the Hulk. In spite of Arnold having beaten him in bodybuilding competitions, Lou earned the part because he was actually the bigger of the two. I had a friend who was a fan of the Lord of the Rings books back then. I agree. To me, it should have been obvious that Finn would lead to a Stormtrooper rebellion to save the day as his big moment. I liked seeing Lando and all, but his saving the day felt too much like a deus ex machina. And I think there needed to be a Finn/Rose romance that continued instead of sidelining Rose. Maybe having PWB praising capitalism was Lucasfilm’s way of endearing her to the anti-woke conservative audience. Moreover, PWB is descended from British nobility. That makes her pretty right-wing in my book. I’m all of aware of the Molotov-Ribbentropp pact of nonaggression. And yea, for a short period between 1939-1941, Stalin ordered communist activists to tone down their anti-German stance because he didn’t trust the West and was making overtures toward Hitler. But in 1936, with the Spanish Civil War in full swing, the international left was firmly in the anti-Nazi camp as Hitler supported the nationalists while the USSR supported the republicans. So for Indiana Jones to say in 1936, “I hate Nazis” would put him in the liberal side at the time. American liberals went to Spain to fight against Franco and formed the Abraham Lincoln Brigade during that era. The posters who angrily denounce me, calling me stupid, have no clue about context and the nuances of the time period. And yea, pre-1964 Democrats from the US South were conservatives on social issues. Both parties flipped around that time. Concepts like political realignment will sometimes fly over most people’s head. They were left wing on economic issues. Right wing on social issues. Obviously, you never heard about the “America First” movement of that era. https://time.com/5414055/american-nazi-sympathy-book/ Sure they can. But you need to consider the context. Raiders takes place in 1936–years before the war. At that time, people who tended to hate the Nazis were on the left of the political spectrum. I'm somewhat on the right on the political spectrum--and yes, I can see that this movie was no more liberal than any of the other IJ movies. A point of contention among the "fandom menace" is the presence of the young black lady with the afro, but I think that was a way for the creators of the movie to connect IJ to the 1960s counter culture. Indiana Jones himself says in the first movie that he hates nazis--which makes him a liberal. But then he does say "I like Ike" in Crystal Skulls, so he may actually be a small-r republican. And then in this movie, he joins an anti-war protest--but that really was just a ruse so that he can fit in with the crowd while he runs away from the bad guys. I don't think this was the greatest IJ movie, but I kind of liked it. Well said. Dial of Destiny redeems the Indy franchise! I can’t decide who is hotter: Kathleen Kennedy or Phoebe Waller Bridge. Bestill my heart! DC Comics had convoluted multi-universe as well (Earth-A, Earth-B, Bizarro-Earth, etc). It existed because the Superman of the 1930s was different than the Silver Age Superman, etc. So in 1986, DC had a major event series that destroyed their multi-universe called "Crisis On Infinite Earths" which reset everything into a single and uniform continuity. I think the monologues are the best part of the show. Try to watch it without any knowledge or spoilers. There is a very infamous scene early on in the film which will surprise you. I’ve been binge watching 1970s Euro horror films for the past few years now. Compared to the average cinephile, I am pretty much a hardcore nerd on the subject. Amuck (1972) is a giallo masterpiece. The Devil’s Wedding Night (1973) is a pretty good Gothic horror film as well.
