Why is Pratt in command?

Sorry if I missed something, but why is it Pratt is the one put in charge of commanding the unit sent forward in time, and not the guy in the red shirt who has supposedly experienced this 3 times before, fought with the enemy before and knows what it looks like, how it moves etc., and already knows where they are heading to? That felt really bizarre.

reply

Because he had army experience and the daughter organised it.

reply

So did the guy in the red shirt, and his experience has actually been in this very war.

I guess the daughter is an idiot, although to be fair I've only seen half of this movie so far.

reply

Because it's a movie aimed at house plants.

reply

What was weirder was they didnt maention to him he was in command until they were in the battle zone.

reply

He wasn't going to be in command but the jump messed up and they lost a lot of people on arrival, so they decided to use his character based on his army experience

reply

What the other poster meant was that his previuos experience was as unit commander so he already had command experience.

reply

Because he had top billing on the movie poster . . . duh.

reply

Because he was the first one to answer the radio call.
