What did this documentary do to convince people that the others didn't?

Like this one for example.

Lot of documentaries of the past reported on him and his allegations but this one was the magic bullet? Or maybe because it's in the age of the #metoo movement and any new documentary coming out reporting on allegations will get the most backlash or outrage among the public.

I think it was just the play on HBO.

Really, there was nothing amazingly new in the whole shebang, just first-person confirmation of all the old rumors and speculations.

I've yet to watch the documentary yet but, have you seen it yet? I'm wondering if it shows the Neverland ranch during the police raid and all the stuff they found in it (well, only the porno mags and the alleged sex closet).

I've seen most of both, and I don't recall it going over the mega-creepy leavings at Neverland Ranch, it was almost entirely about Safechuck and Robson's relationships with Jackson.

But yes, anyone who wonders whether Jackson should ever have been trusted with the company of a child should go over the pictures of everything he left behind at Neverland Ranch. Just the artwork on the walls was the stuff of nightmares, and he showed it to guests!

Don't forget all the subtle gestures and sounds the people in this film make. The sound design is very convincing.

It's a masterpiece of persuasion and uncomfortableness.

I haven't watched anything about his case since probably Martin Bashir, but I'd say it was the editing. Like Wade would be talking about Michael going to his house and staying for periods of time. It sounds like an incredible claim, but then they show photos of him in their house. Same with the faxes and voice messages. When they would talk about the bedrooms, there would be a picture to show where he was describing. The film does this from the very beginning, showing them on stage or in the commercial with him. So it's clear from the start that they had a special relationship with him, and it could add to their credibility.

I've seen it.

The documentary was focused entirely with interviews of the two boys-now-men, their families, how their relationships started with MJ, how it progressed and escalated, detailed accounts of the sexual abuse, and the impact this had on all of them.

It showed how MJ insinuated himself into these children and families' lives, and how he gained their trust, which ultimately led to disastrous results.

In short, it's very believable, and this was sort of the tipping point, perhaps built on previous documentaries about it and him.
