shareNaah, it's not tiny claws in canon. You're thinking of the Tobey Maguire films. In comic canon it's a form of molecular cohesion that works right through the fabric of his costume. Not sure it should work through the sole of a shoe, though.

shareI actually liked it when Gwen used her webs to sit down reverse to fight gravity. Never questioned the feet stuff, as we never see their soles. We know for sure that Miles is wearing usually shoes (he several times change them in this movie), usually it is very uncomfy to wear a shoe in a shoe. So for me its more kind of socks which allow him to use his powers. When he gets invisible also his suits get out, which shows at least that his powers go through his suit.
