Things about this movie I don't get

-The Miss Devine character made no sense to me. She's a sub that knows nothing about this boy, yet she's all in the business. And why even write her into the story as a sub. She'd make more sense if she was the actual teacher who knew the kid well.

-Was the mom going to actual stab her son? For what. There's a few things in that scene that made me feel she wasn't, yet there they were. I feel as if that was a senselessly contrived scene just to stir up some action/horror.

-It becomes clear Sarah is more than just a girl in the wall. But it's unclear what she is exactly, how it happened, and why they decided to put in the wall. Supernatural? Telekinetic? Super strong? How the hell was she unable to escape from the house. Why did she kill the teen crew so quickly, but was different towards Miss Devine.

IMO, this movie could've been the best horror movie of the year. The story was suspenseful and interesting. The cinematography was top-notch. It looked and felt creepy. But it fell off the rails once she came out of that wall, and that didn't need to happen. The ending was lazy and all it would've taken as a few sentences or a few scenes to clear things up. Epic fail.

True - turned into a super generic horror flick with long haired fast running lady killing everything ...
But up to that its a great movie with great pictures and atmosphere

I feel like if it ended right when he opened the door and you saw the eyes and mouth in the dark it would've been perfect. We shouldn't have got a clear look at the creature at all, seeing its eyes in the darkness and hearing its voice at the end was all we needed to see of it.

A big CGI long haired bug creature zooming around like The Flash just felt a little silly. That shot of its eyes in the dark glowing right after he opened the door was creepy as fuck, and it would've been a chilling final image before the credits rolled.

i'm going to watch this and turn it off at that point

reply

Thats honestly the best way to watch it, it also makes the movie much shorter and easier to get through. If you don't watch anything past that point its a very well done atmospheric and dark movie with a memorable chilling ending.

The thing in the wall was a demon born from two “normal parents” after a child killing the demon was locked up and confined.
She was a hidden secret.

reply

A demon? So how were they able to keep her in the walls.

reply

Never explained!

reply

Not a demon.
A physical creature with spider-like and human-like traits along with supernatural powers.
But somehow unable to break out of a thin wall.

She was not a demon. A demon wouldn’t have stayed in the walls. A demon is pure evil and all it wants to do is to take over your life. If she was a demon the parents wouldn’t have lived long enough to have the little boy. Also a demon is born like humans. Demons are a spirit.

But you do see her sliding across the room/corridor in a scene before she is let out

reply

There was too much that didn't really make sense.
