Yeah that seems likely. We have the theme of adoption introduced. Twins separated at birth, one is adopted or they both were but Terry turned out OK and his brother did not.

I think the man with the disfigured face who keeps showing up at all the crime scenes is a shapeshifter who can take on anybody's form, down to replicating their DNA. Obviously there was a reason the "nurse" cut Terry during that trip to Dayton. What remains to be seen is why he targeted the Maitlands specifically, or the Peterson family.

shareSo far, all clues seem to lead back to Maitland's father in Dayton with dementia. The guard who offed himself worked there and presumably a LOT with senior Maitland because the police tried to question the latter so thoroughly and reporters wanted to get to him.
