Despite the characters doing illogical things A Quiet Place II is good. *SPOILERS*

In this movie, you're gonna find yourself asking why the two kids in the movie do really dumb things. For example, the little girl decides to go off by herself because she wants to find the boat, but for some reason doesn't want to tell her mom. I think that if she had just told the mom and the guy about it, they could've planned the whole thing out together. I don't see any reason why the mom and the guy WOULDN'T want to find the boat to get to safety. And later in the movie, the little boy for some odd reason decides to leave the shelter to just "have a look around" even though he's physically disabled due to his foot being hurt from the bear trap.

But if you stop asking yourself why these characters are doing things that make no sense and you just accept the movie for what it is, it's really good.

I think with Regan, she was worried her mother might try to stop her. Especially after Marcus’s freak out when she told him about it. Also, her mother had her brothers to take care of and at that point, everything Emmett said indicated that he was not willing to help them. As foolish as her decision was, it’s understandable that a child would make that choice given that context.
What made absolutely no sense was why Marcus decided to go for a stroll. This part annoyed the heck out of me. As you said, he was injured and he was also the sole carer for his baby brother. His character throughout both movies is consistently shown as someone who is perpetually terrified and would not take chances. In fact, when his mother left, he was physically shaking. So it made absolutely no sense for him to do this. What annoyed me most was that they could’ve easily introduced some excuse that forces him to leave. This would have been a character moment for him, allowing him to overcome his fear and rise to the occasion. Instead, he just does something stupid and completely out of character for no reason at all.

Without absolute stupidity, there could be no horror movies. MENSA members have never been the target audience.

Was about to list the NUMEROUS horror movies that succeed without "absolute stupidity," but then it occurred to me it would be easier to just have You do it. Go!!!!

Alíen, Aliens. Up to point Event Horizon ..

It Follows(They're really smart). Thy Fly. The Thing. A Nightmare on Elm Street. Aliens.

I though the first A Quiet Place is stupid movie, but second one is even dumber, the scene a girl put a rope on Cillian Murphy is laughable dumb. Are they idiots? What if he decide to move to call monsters? And he has a knife, why not cut the rope?

And they use the speaker to kill a monster, why run from second monster? Why not use speaker again?

The series is produce by Michael Bay's company, A Quiet Place and Transformer are the same series: To attract dumb people.

Yup yup!

I think that Marcus was trying to find Evelyn coming back, after all Evelyn said that she would "only be a few hours".

Characters in horror/sci-fi/suspense films always do dumb things. It helps the plot along. And it is good, very good: 8/10.

This sort of attitude is why there's a disproportionate amount of ppl doing dumb things in horror movies. This idea is nonsense.

reply

Perhaps it is nonsense, but it's true. And this film is very good: 8/10.

reply

It's not true, cause there's tons of excellent horror films without ppl doing dumb things. You don't need dumb things to help the plot alone. That's a lazy, narrative crutch.

Okay, whatever floats your boat.

The boy leaving the shelter made no sense in the movie, and had to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. If you're gonna write a movie, make the action plausible.

reply

Nothing that happens in this film even comes close to the illogical beginning of the first Quiet Place.

The first ten minutes or so is an all-time head scratcher.
